  • Publication number: 20080200768
Abstract: A improved equine dental speculum includes upper and lower frames pivotably connected to one another, upper and lower jaw and teeth engagement bars mounted on respective ones of the upper and lower frames which fit in the horse's mouth, frame spacing bars extending between and connecting the frame and the frame spacing securement devices which each include a slide stop assembly movably mounted on the frame arm which includes a movably mounted carriage and a stop bar adjustably mounted thereon, the stop bar having a frame arm slot extending transversely therethrough and having dimensions slightly larger than the cross-sectional dimensions of the frame arm and through which the frame arm extends to releasably frictionally engage the frame arm so that the upper and lower frames will open along with the horse's mouth yet prevent the horse from closing its mouth until the stop bar is released.

  • Patent number: 7101176
Abstract: A rotary float includes an elongated tubular arm with a drive shaft rotatably mounted therethrough. The forward end of the drive shaft is connected to a collet shaft within an extension tube, and transmits rotational force from the drive shaft to the collet shaft. A bit is mounted on the forward end of the collet shaft, for grinding a surface adjacent the forward end of the extension tube. A cap with an opening therein, is frictionally engaged on the extension tube over the bit, to permit floating of an animal's teeth through the opening, while protecting the animal from the remainder of the bit.

  • Patent number: 7029274
Abstract: A rotary float includes an elongated tubular arm with a drive shaft rotatably mounted therethrough. A drive unit is coupled to a rearward end of the shaft to rotate the shaft. A swivel on the forward end of the drive shaft connects the drive shaft to a collet shaft within an extension tube, and transmits rotational force from the drive shaft to the collet shaft. The extension tube is connected to the arm at a knuckle joint, which permits the extension tube to pivot about the forward end of the arm. A bit is mounted on the forward end of the collet shaft, for grinding a surface adjacent the forward end of the extension tube.

  • Patent number: 5746541
Abstract: A mobile sod cutting machine has mounting arms that have a central axis of elongation with a cable installer mechanism mounted to the lower end of one of the arms for being reciprocated with the arm. The cable installer mechanism includes a vertical ground slitting blade having a front slitting edge, a bottom edge intersecting the slitting edge and a shank mounting portion mounted to the mounting arm. An upper cable guide is attached to the shank mounting portion to extend rearwardly of the central axis of elongation of the mounting arm while a bottom cable guide is mounted to the blade adjacent to the intersection of the blade bottom edge and slitting edge to have its reversely bent edge forwardly of the central axis of elongation but spaced rearwardly of the blade bottom edge along the guide length by a distance about as least as great as the reciprocal fore and aft movement of the blade.

  • Patent number: 5533894
Abstract: An equine dental float includes a handle with a head at one end, the head including a trough like structure with a plurality of individual teeth mounted in the trough. A pin mounted through an aperture in each of the plurality of teeth aligns the teeth and removably connects the teeth within the trough. Each tooth is polygonal in shape and has a plurality of cutting edges, with one of the cutting edges of each tooth projecting upwardly out of the trough to form a filing surface.
