  • Patent number: 4691701
Abstract: A carbon dioxide detector for determining the correct location of an endotracheal tube following intubation of a patient. The detector includes a housing with a first tubular member for connection to a endotracheal tube or the like, a second tubular member for connection to an anaesthetic circuit and an indicator to indicate the presence of carbon dioxide in the detector. Preferably the indicator is in the form of a transparent disc which sealingly engages an aperture in the housing, the disc having a chemical substance which provides a colour change indication when exposed to carbon dioxide from a patient.

  • Patent number: 4683879
Abstract: A dual function connector for releasable attachment to an endopharyngeal tube, airway intubator or the like. The connector comprises a cylindrical tube having a large diameter proximal portion sized to fit within an airway intubator and a distal portion with a smaller diameter than the proximal portion. Flange means are provided on the proximal portion and extend substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the connector; and an elongated slot in the connector extends from the distal end throughout the length of the distal portion and into the proximal portion.

  • Patent number: 4338930
Abstract: This invention relates to an oro-pharyngeal airway of generally ellipsoidal cross-sectional shape adapted to function as a guide and passageway for an endotracheal tube for intubation of a human larynx having distal and proximal halves and ends in which the proximal end is generally in the shape of a cylindrical tunnel of a size sufficient to accommodate a complementary endotracheal tube and in which the distal half and end is open along its lingual surface so as to permit the passage therethrough of the aforesaid complementary endotracheal tube.
