  • Publication number: 20220339852
Abstract: A manufacturing system (1) for manufacturing shaped laminates including: forming tools (2.1, 2.2) extending along a longitudinal direction X, located parallel to one another and configured to receive a laminate (4) between the forming tools; a shaping tool (3) extending along the longitudinal direction X and along a transversal direction Z, and configured to receive the laminate (4) on an external surface of the shaping tool, wherein the forming tools (2.1, 2.2) or the shaping tool (3) are movable in the longitudinal direction X and in the transversal direction Z, relative to the at least one of the shaping tool (3) and the two forming tools (2.1, 2.2).

  • Patent number: 8751197
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for designing a composite material part with a curved surface (65) to which a plurality of stiffening elements will be joined, in which the design of a 3D fabric model comprises the following steps: generating a planar surface (63) developed in 2D of the surface (65) of the curved part in 3D as well as the same geometric references (71) in 2D as the references (51) of the surface in 3D; associating the surface (63) developed in 2D and the surface (65) in 3D as well as their geometric references (71, 51), such that any action in one of them is reflected in the other; initially computing the fabric model in the surface (63) developed in 2D; carrying out any subsequent modification of the fabric model either in the surface (63) developed in 2D or in the surface (65) in 3D.

  • Patent number: 8649897
Abstract: A method for laying-up the tapes of a prepeg composite material in the 0° direction of a non-planar composite component on a suitable mold using an ATL machine includes the steps of: a) determining the trajectories of the tapes as modified trajectories of geodesic trajectories complying with the following conditions in their projections in an horizontal plane: that the curvature radius R2 of their curved segments is bigger than a predetermined value Rmin; that the gap G2p between two contiguous tapes is comprised between 0 and a predetermined value Gmax; and b) providing modified trajectories to the ATL machine. The invention also refers to a non-planar composite component such as an skin of an aircraft wing having the tapes in the 0° direction following trajectories complying with conditions described.

  • Patent number: 8165703
Abstract: Computer assisted method for the advanced design of bent parts of composite material using a computer assisted CAD system comprising the following stages: a) Supplying the 2D mesh model (11) of the part; b) Generating the 3D outer surface (19) of the part; c) Obtaining the 3D mesh model (51) by adapting the 2D mesh model (11) to the geometry of the 3D outer surface (19) by bending the contour lines (17) of the patterns (13) of the 2D model (11) with respect to some bending lines (23) set up in relation to a bending surface (31) similar to that of the tool provided for bending the part; d) Generating the solid model (53) of the bent part. The invention also relates to a computer program that when it is executed on a computer together with a CAD system it causes the execution of the method.
