  • Patent number: 8652734
Abstract: A toner composition includes toner particles including an average diameter ranging from about 3 ?m to about 10 ?m, an average particle density of about 1.4 g/cm3 or less, and for a given particle size configured to have a decreased mass and reduced particle momentum. The toner particle can include one of a solid core and a solid outer shell, a porous core and a porous outer shell, and a solid outer shell with a hollow core. The porous and solid cores can include a low density material.

  • Publication number: 20060140660
Abstract: A method of operating an electrostatographic printing apparatus, the apparatus including a charge-retentive member defining an imaging surface and a charging device for placing a charge on the imaging surface, including the steps of: providing a power supply to apply a bias to the bias charging roll; and applying a bias to the bias charging roll, the applying includes applying a burst modulated waveform to the bias charging roll.

  • Publication number: 20060104651
Abstract: An electrostatographic printing apparatus comprises a charge receptor, and a transfer station for transferring a toner image from the charge receptor to a sheet by providing an electric field of predetermined magnitude at a transfer zone. The transfer station includes a rotatable transfer member, with a cleaning corotron associated therewith. A control system for maintaining a constant current at the transfer zone takes into account a current supplied by the cleaning corotron. The control system can also take into account current leakages associated with the transfer member.

  • Publication number: 20060013617
Abstract: In a xerographic printing apparatus, a scorotron places a uniform charge on a photoreceptor for forming electrostatic latent images. Two conductive pin arrays are disposed in a housing defined by sidewalls and a grid adjacent the photoreceptor. For each array, the distance to the adjacent sidewall is 1.0 to 1.5 the distance to the grid.

  • Patent number: 6326111
Abstract: A charge transport layer material for a photoreceptor includes at least a polycarbonate polymer, at least one charge transport material, polytetrafluoroethylene particle aggregates having an average size of less than about 1.5 microns, hydrophobic silica and a fluorine-containing polymeric surfactant dispersed in a solvent. The presence of the hydrophobic silica enables the dispersion to have superior stability by preventing settling of the PTFE particles. A resulting charge transport layer produced from the dispersion exhibits excellent wear resistance against contact with an AC bias charging roll, excellent electrical performance, and delivers superior print quality.
