  • Patent number: 11957246
Abstract: A chair with a transom, a seat support, a back portion, and a combined rock and recline mechanism. The combined rock and recline mechanism has front and rear rocking arrangements configured to enable the seat support and back portion to together rock generally forward and rearward from a neutral position relative to the transom, and a recline arrangement that is configured such that the seat support is in a first at-rest position relative to the back portion when the back portion is in an upright position, and such that reclining the back portion rearwardly from the upright position toward a reclined position moves the seat support upward and rearward from the first at-rest position.

  • Publication number: 20190235923
Abstract: Among other things, there is coordination of the timing and execution (a) of allocations of amounts of real-world resources to competing uses of the resources, relative to (b) dynamic assessments of an overall state of a changing real-world system, in order to alter the overall state of the real-world system. A request is received for an allocation of an amount of a real-world resource of the real-world system to a particular use of the resource as of a particular allocation time. From time to time, information is ingested representing states of facets of the real-world system, to maintain the information current relative to the particular allocation time. A current overall state of the real-world system is dynamically assessed, based on the current information representing states of the facets of the real-world system, as of a time that is current relative to the particular allocation time.

  • Publication number: 20190057198
Abstract: Among other things, first and second sets of authentication credentials are used to access respectively data about a first set of one or more accounts from a first source and data about the one or more of the second accounts from the a second source. The data are analyzed to identify (a) one account of the first set of one or more accounts and (b) the one of the one or more of the second accounts as possibly a single account. After information is presented to a user an indication is received from the user that they are a single account. For a computation that requires data about the single account, data from the first source or data from the second source or data from both are used, based on a predefined computational rule.

  • Publication number: 20190057135
Abstract: Among other things, a value of a data item is calculated. The data item has possible values that correspond to degrees of a user-related condition. The calculation is based on information about the user-related condition for a user. A metaphorical element is presented to the user that metaphorically represents a degree of the user-related condition corresponding to the value of the data item. The metaphorical element belongs to a set of metaphorical elements that are related and metaphorically represent different respective degrees of the user-related condition, a new value of the data item is calculated in response to a change in the user-related condition. In response to the new value, a different one of the metaphorical elements is presented to the user. The change from one to another of the metaphorical elements metaphorically represents the change in the user-related condition.

  • Patent number: 8024334
Abstract: A system for automatically creating and maintaining a database of information utilizing user opinions about subjects, particularly exceptional experiences. Described is an Internet system assisting/motivating a population of users interested in information about certain categories of subjects to automatically maintain the database content and to improve the usefulness and quality of the database information without any substantial management by the website owner-manager. The user opinions are primarily in the form of both comments and ratings about which natural-language terms best describe a particular subject, enabling user searches of the subject database to be by way of preferred such descriptive natural-language terms, which terms are further preferred to be evaluative and approving.
