Patent number: 11736349Abstract: A device associated with a network may provide a subscription request that requests data associated with the network and user equipment connected to the network. The device may receive, based on the subscription request, network congestion data associated with the network, reachability data associated with the user equipment, and location data associated with the user equipment. The device may determine a group of the user equipment based on the network congestion data, the reachability data, and the location data. The device may determine timing for providing firmware to the group based on capabilities of the user equipment in the group. The device may provide segments of the firmware to the network to cause the network to provide the segments of the firmware to the group based on the timing for providing the firmware to the group.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2020Date of Patent: August 22, 2023Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Ye Huang, Jin Yang, Rachel Ward, Kristen Sydney Young, Gulay Kurt Chrzanowski, Prema Kumar Yendrapati, Brian Matthew White, Carlos Cazanas, John F. Publication number: 20220361956Abstract: Techniques and technologies for guiding medical instruments during medical procedures using real-time imaging technologies are disclosed. A representative apparatus includes a medical instrument, an imaging system, a stage assembly, and a control system. The medical instrument includes an elongated portion configured to be inserted into a body portion and having an optical fiber that includes a tip portion that is extendable beyond a distal end of the elongated portion. The imaging system provides a sampling energy that is emitted from the tip portion. The stage assembly actuates the tip portion to perform scanning of one or more tissues with the sampling energy. The imaging system receives a reflected energy, providing a plurality of one-dimensional arrays of intensity values of the reflected energy.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2022Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: David B. Patent number: 9667484Abstract: A system and method are described for provisioning a wireless service on a wireless network. The wireless network includes: at least one of an in-network service element and an out-of-network service element; and a provisioning-manager module (SPM) for activating the at least one of the service elements for servicing a user, wherein the SPM counts a number of subscribers of the at least one service element, and performs one of the following: (a) provisions the user, if the number of subscribers is below a threshold count level, or (b) de-provisions another user, if the number of subscribers is above the threshold count level. The SPM only provisions a service element when that service element is requested by the user.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2015Date of Patent: May 30, 2017Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Roy Tarantino, Rachel Ward

Patent number: 8967481Abstract: Techniques and systems for decoding optical codes using symbol-based algorithms are described. In one example, a method includes acquiring a signal representative of light reflected from an optical code comprising one or more symbols of a finite set of symbols and applying a decoding model to the signal. The decoding model may relate measured signals to the finite set of symbols, such that each of the symbols of the finite set of symbols are associated with a respective encoded character of a finite set of encoded characters. The method may also include determining, by a processor, a sequence of one or more of the encoded characters based on the application of the decoding model to the signal. In this manner, the optical code may be decoded by directly fitting an acquired signal from the optical code to possible symbols within the optical code and the associated encoded characters.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2012Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: Regents of the University of MinnesotaInventors: Fadil Santosa, Mark A.
