  • Publication number: 20230255636
Abstract: Surgical clips and surgical applicators used in performing rapid tissue closure in either minimally invasive surgeries or traditional open procedures are provided. In one example approach, a surgical clip comprises opposing sides extending from a top portion and terminating at tips positioned below the top portion. The resting position of the clip is its closed position. Edges of the top portion and the opposing sides form opposing faces perpendicular to the opposing sides. The opposing faces are angled inwardly towards each other at a region of the faces adjacent to the top portion. Grooves are formed in each of the opposing sides. The grooves are configured to engage inwardly turned tracks of a clip applicator such that, when a force is applied to the clip, the opposing sides bend outwardly away from each other to place the clip in an intermediate open position.

  • Publication number: 20210322010
Abstract: Surgical clips and surgical applicators used in performing rapid tissue closure in either minimally invasive surgeries or traditional open procedures are provided. In one example approach, a surgical clip comprises opposing sides extending from a top portion and terminating at tips positioned below the top portion. The resting position of the clip is its closed position, and in the closed position, the tips are set at a first distance apart. Each side has a cut-out (or hole or aperture) opposite one another. Each cut-out is fully surrounded by the side and does not extend to the top or tips. Each cut-out is configured to engage an inwardly turned hook at the end of a clip array or clip applicator such that the sides bend outwardly away from each other when pressure is applied on the top portion of the clip, thereby placing the clip in an open position.

  • Patent number: 10495552
Abstract: A breath analysis system that includes a handle assembly with an analysis cartridge on an upper end thereof. The handle includes a main body portion with a pressure opening and a pressure transducer therein. The analysis cartridge includes a main body portion with an upper portion that defines a breath chamber, a lower portion that defines a fluid chamber and a filter assembly that is movable between a breath capture position and an analysis position. The filter assembly has an opening defined therethrough. In the breath capture position, the opening partially defines the breath chamber and in the analysis position the opening partially defines the fluid chamber. The system also includes an analysis device with a case, a door, a controller that controls the motor and a fluorescence detection assembly and a rotation assembly positioned in the case interior. The rotation assembly includes a shroud with a funnel portion for receiving the analysis cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20180161748
Abstract: The fluid-segmentation device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a first conduit in which a first fluid flows, and a second conduit in which a second fluid immiscible with the first fluid flows. The second conduit of the fluid-segmentation device includes an intersection region, to which the first conduit is connected and into which the first fluid is introduced, and a first region downstream of the intersection region. The cross-sectional area of the intersection region of the second conduit in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction of the second fluid is less than the cross-sectional area of the first region of the second conduit in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction of the second fluid.

  • Publication number: 20170156639
Abstract: A system for and method of mapping and monitoring posture disclosed. The system includes sensor units that independently collect posture data corresponding to body locations or body positions on subjects and generate posture signals. The posture signals are wirelessly transmitted to one or more computers that are used to process the posture signals and generate posture feedback of the subjects in real-time. The sensor units are preferably accelerometer sensor units. Sensor units are assigned or learn the body locations or body positions, classify body locations or body positions, map and monitor posture, assign posture or activities of subjects and transmit the posture signals to the one or more computers by low-power radio transmitters to provide posture feedback. The system collectively is adaptive for mapping and monitoring posture from body locations or body positions corresponding to spines, arms, legs, necks, heads, thighs, hips, feet and hands of the subjects.
