  • Patent number: 7984424
Abstract: Embodiments provide a software model which allows a user to modify a software program in substantially the same manner as the original programmer or developer. In one embodiment, declarative code and user customizations are isolated from other code and structure of the software program. The isolated customizations can be quickly and efficiently examined to determine whether any changes or other modifications have been made to the software program. Additionally, the isolated changes can be efficiently located and applied when updating or upgrading the software program to persist any customized changes made to the software program.

  • Publication number: 20090150795
Abstract: Architecture that enables an end user interested in rendering a map in a web-based collaboration and document management platform the ability to do so without writing custom code. The architecture includes a map server control for insertion into a web page to display a map view. The end user can also employ a pushpin database to store different landmarks to be displayed on the map view. An administrator server control is provided for managing the content (e.g., landmark data) of the database, and a legend server control for providing a list of landmark data for selection and presentation in the map view. A data interface facilitates access to the pushpin database for administrator functions and pushpin information for presentation and selection.

  • Publication number: 20090024671
Abstract: Described is a technology by which a content management system (such as part of Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server) synchronizes data with an external (e.g., third-party) data storage system. For example, live video and/or on demand video webcasts may be stored on the external data storage system, but may be controlled by events created and edited at the content management system, even though the content management system does not directly support video content. In one example, an administrator creates or modifies an event at the content management system, and if the event is coordinated with the external data storage system, the content management system is synchronized with the external data storage system. One-way communication and/or two-way communication may take place for synchronization, including providing parameters to the content management system from the data store, or by sending notifications and queues to synchronize data with the content management system.
