Abstract: A vehicle interior component configured for illumination by a light source is disclosed. The component may comprise a composite structure configured to provide a visual effect and comprising an intermediate layer between a base/substrate and a cover comprising a glass material. When illuminated, the composite structure may produce a composite visual effect on and/or within the composite structure, at a surface of the cover and/or at the intermediate layer. The cover may comprise an element and/or treatment to provide a visual effect. The intermediate layer may comprise a glass layer comprising an element and/or treatment to provide a visual effect. The composite visual effect may comprise a visual effect beneath the surface of the cover of the composite structure. The composite visual effect may comprise a depth effect when not illuminated and an enhanced depth effect when illuminated. A process to manufacture the component is also disclosed.
