  • Patent number: 10818029
Abstract: This present disclosure relates to systems and processes for capturing an unstructured light field in a plurality of images. In particular embodiments, a plurality of keypoints are identified on a first keyframe in a plurality of captured images. A first convex hull is computed from all keypoints in the first keyframe and merged with previous convex hulls corresponding to previous keyframes to form a convex hull union. Each keypoint is tracked from the first keyframe to a second image. The second image is adjusted to compensate for camera rotation during capture, and a second convex hull is computed from all keypoints in the second image. If the overlapping region between the second convex hull and the convex hull union is equal to, or less than, a predetermined size, the second image is designated as a new keyframe, and the convex hull union is augmented with the second convex hull.

Abstract: Described are systems and processes for generating multi-view interactive digital media representations (MIDMR) for display on a user device. In one aspect, a mobile device is provided which comprises a display, one or more processors, memory, and one or more programs stored in memory. The one or more programs comprise instructions for locking the mobile device, and providing a lock screen on the display in a lock mode upon receiving user input for accessing the mobile device. The lock screen may display a dynamic MIDMR that dynamically changes without user input, which provides an interactive three-dimensional representation of an object that is responsive to user interaction with the mobile device. The dynamic MIDMR displayed is selected based on predetermined criteria, and may change based on a predetermined algorithm that includes weighted predetermined criteria factors as variables and recalculates the algorithm value to determine changes to the dynamic MIDMR.

  • Publication number: 20200257862
Abstract: A tag characterizing a portion of a multi-view interactive digital media representation (MVIDMR) may be determined by applying a grammar to natural language data. The MVIDMR may include images of an object and may be navigable in one or more dimensions. An object model location for the tag identifying a location within a three-dimensional object model may be determined by applying the grammar to the natural language data. The tag may then be applied to the MVIDMR by associating it with two or more of the images at positions determined based on the object model location.

  • Patent number: 10733475
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate generally to systems and processes for artificially rendering images using interpolation of tracked control points. According to particular embodiments, a set of control points is tracked between a first frame and a second frame, where the first frame includes a first image captured from a first location and the second frame includes a second image captured from a second location. An artificially rendered image corresponding to a third location is then generated by interpolating individual control points for the third location using the set of control points and interpolating pixel locations using the individual control points. The individual control points are used to transform image data.

  • Patent number: 10728527
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate generally to systems and methods for analyzing and manipulating images and video. According to particular embodiments, the spatial relationship between multiple images and video is analyzed together with location information data, for purposes of creating a representation referred to herein as a multi-view interactive digital media representation for presentation on a device. Once a multi-view interactive digital media representation is generated, a user can provide navigational inputs, such via tilting of the device, which alter the presentation state of the multi-view interactive digital media representation. The navigational inputs can be analyzed to determine metrics which indicate a user's interest in the multi-view interactive digital media representation.

  • Patent number: 10726560
Abstract: Various embodiments describe systems and processes for generating AR/VR content. In one aspect, a method for generating a 3D projection of an object in a virtual reality or augmented reality environment comprises obtaining a sequence of images along a camera translation using a single lens camera. Each image contains a portion of overlapping subject matter, including the object. The object is segmented from the sequence of images using a trained segmenting neural network to form a sequence of segmented object images, to which an art-style transfer is applied using a trained transfer neural network. On-the-fly interpolation parameters are computed and stereoscopic pairs are generated for points along the camera translation from the refined sequence of segmented object images for displaying the object as a 3D projection in a virtual reality or augmented reality environment. Segmented image indices are mapped to a rotation range for display in the virtual reality or augmented reality environment.

  • Publication number: 20200234466
Abstract: The pose of an object may be estimated based on fiducial points identified in a visual representation of the object. Each fiducial point may correspond with a component of the object, and may be associated with a first location in an image of the object and a second location in a 3D space. A 3D skeleton of the object may be determined by connecting the locations in the 3D space, and the object's pose may be determined based on the 3D skeleton.

  • Publication number: 20200234397
Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) skeleton may be determined based on a plurality of vertices and a plurality of faces in a two-dimensional (2D) mesh in a top-down image of an object. A correspondence mapping between a designated perspective view image and the top-down object image may be determined based on the 3D skeleton. The correspondence mapping may link a respective first location in the top-down object image to a respective second location in the designated perspective view image for each of a plurality of points in the designated perspective view image. A top-down mapped image of the object may be created by determining a first respective pixel value for each of the first locations, with each first respective pixel value being determined based on a second respective pixel value for the respective second location linked with the respective first location via the correspondence mapping.
