  • Process for preparing stabilized, ammonium nitrate containing granules

    Abstract: Stabilized NH.sub.4 NO.sub.3 containing granules are produced by dissolving in an aqueous NH.sub.4 NO.sub.3 solution Mg(NO.sub.3).sub.2 and, if desired, suspending mineral filler, spraying the resulting solution or suspension over nuclei maintained in spaced interrelationship and contacted with a hot stream of gas at a temperature of the nuclei of between 120.degree. and 135.degree. C., and cooling the resulting granules in such a manner that, between 70.degree. C. and 50.degree. C., they remain substantially homogeneous in temperature.

    Abstract: An apparatus for coating pellets, such as prills, granules and the like, with a liquid coating agent, which comprises a cylindrical, obliquely disposed drum arranged for rotation about its longitudinal axis, said drum comprising means at or adjacent its higher end for the supply and input of pellets to be coated and for supplying and spraying or atomizing said liquid coating agent over the pellets introduced, and means at or adjacent its lower end for the output and discharge of coated product pellets, and further is provided with partitions arranged transversely to the axis of rotation and dividing the drum into compartments, each of said partitions having a passage opening located eccentrically relative to the axis of rotation and so that the passage openings in each pair of partitions defining a compartment are peripherally offset relatively to each other.

  • Process for urea granulation

    Abstract: Urea granules are prepared by spraying an aqueous urea solution having a urea concentration of 70-99.9% by weight on to fluidized urea nuclei in the form of droplets having a mean drop diameter of 20-120 .mu.m at a temperature at which the water is evaporated from the solution sprayed on to the nuclei and urea crystallizes on the nuclei to form granules having a desired size.
