    Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for preparing &bgr;-ketoester fragrance pro-accords from activated acyl units, 1,3-dioxan-4,6-diones and fragrance raw material alcohols. The first step involves contacting an activated acyl unit, preferably an acid chloride, with a 1,3-dioxan-4,6-dione, an example of which is Meldrum's acid, to form a 2-acyl 1,3-dioxan-4,6-dione which is then reacted with a fragrance raw material alcohol to form the final &bgr;-ketoester fragrance pro-accord. The resulting &bgr;-ketoester fragrance pro-accords are suitable for use in laundry detergent, personal care, and other formulations wherein aesthetic fragrance materials are employed.

    Abstract: An air data sensor strut made of a single block of material has one side finished in a smooth contour, and has grooves in an opposite side of the strut for receiving pressure carrying conduits or other elongated members such as a heater. The heater and conduits are secured in place with a filling of potting material and the open sides of the grooves are finished after filling so that the desired contour is provided for the opposite side of the strut. The strut has a thin cross-section because of the elimination of hollow interior spaces formed by spaced walls.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for arylating a non-halogenated diamondoid compound comprising the steps of:(a) providing a non-halogenated diamondoid compound or mixture of non-halogenated diamondoid compounds and an aromatic compound or mixture of aromatic compounds wherein at least one diamondoid compound and at least one aromatic compound are at least partially miscible;(b) mixing the compounds of step (a) to form at least a partial solution;(c) adding a reactive halide source to the mixture of step (b);(d) adding a Lewis acid to said mixture of step (c);(e) heating said mixture of step (d) to temperature above ambient and holding said heated mixture at elevated temperature;(f) recovering an arylated diamondoid compound from said solution.
