  • Patent number: 9454217
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for monitoring, controlling and reducing power in electronic devices and appliances, specifically the standby or vampire power. The system includes a central controller and one or more power switch routers (PSR). The one or more PSRs are networkable and the controller and one or more PSRs communicate by a wireless connection. The central controller and the one or more PSRs may be coupled in a network, where the network may be either a star network or a mesh network, or a combination of a star and mesh network. The resulting network is a scalable AC power switch network that may be remotely or locally controlled with advanced metering telemetry. To reduce vampire power, the PSRs are able to accurately measure the power consumption, measuring the neutral power line, and communicate information to the central controller.

  • Patent number: 8603493
Abstract: Novel carbosilane dendrimers, their preparation and their uses. The dendrimers of the invention have secondary, tertiary and quaternary amino groups at their branch ends. Their possible uses include vehicles for carrying anionic-charged molecules in the blood, such as nucleic acids, among them ODN and RNAi, and other anionic drugs with which they have the capacity of interacting, protecting them from interaction with plasma protein and/or increasing their penetration rate in target cells. In the cases where the bond is long-lasting, the dendrimers of the invention can be used to fix anionic molecules to surfaces. Their uses also include their administration as active ingredients to prevent or treat diseases caused by micro-organisms with whose structure and/or life cycle they interfere.

  • Patent number: 7306924
Abstract: A method for collecting a microbiological substance utilizes a micro fabricated biochip having a collection chamber. A fluid sample containing a microbiological entity of interest is delivered to the collection chamber in the biochip. Then a non-uniform electric field is generated in the collection chamber, to retain the microbiological entity of interest in the collection chamber. The microbiological entity is retained through dielectrophoresis induced by the energization of the electrodes by a periodically applied, alternating current.

  • Publication number: 20070125145
Abstract: A high-pressure system for hydroshaping a hollow workpiece has a lower die and an upper die vertically shiftable above the lower die and forming therewith a cavity shaped to hold the workpiece. An upper actuating element bears downward via a vertically compressible hydraulic operating cylinder on the upper die. A spring-loaded pressure-storing cylinder is connected by a hydraulic line to the operating cylinder and to the workpiece. Downward shifting of the actuating element first closes the dies together, then internally pressurizes the workpiece via the line from the operating cylinder such that the workpiece deforms and shapes itself to the cavity, and then fills the spring-loaded pressure-storing cylinder. Subsequent upward shifting of the actuating element at first allows the pressure-storing cylinder to empty, and then entrains the upper die upward off the workpiece by the actuating element.
