  • Patent number: 8821716
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved desulfurization process using an ionic liquid compound of general formula C+A?, where C+ represents an organic cation such as alkyl-pyridinium, di-alkyl imidazolium and tri-alkyl imidazolium; and A? is an anion of halides of iron (III), such as, for example, FeCl4?. The desulfurization process is also improved when producing the ionic liquid compound by heating the reactants using microwave energy. The ionic liquids can be used to desulfurize hydrocarbon mixtures by a liquid-liquid extraction.

  • Publication number: 20140122063
Abstract: The invention consists of a method and computing system for recording and analyzing the voice which allows a series of parameters of phonation to be calculated. These transmit relevant information regarding effects caused by organic disorders (which affect the physiology of the larynx) or neurological disorders (which affect the cerebral centers of speech). The classification methods are also considered an essential part of the invention which allow estimations of the existing dysfunction to be obtained and for the allocation of personality. The usefulness of the invention lies in the possibility of applying the dysfunction estimation in primary care service centers for patient screening to specialist care centers, simplifying examination protocols, saving costs and reducing waiting lists. This methodology can also be used for detecting the personality of a speaker by their voice, allowing access to installations or services.

  • Publication number: 20130026073
Abstract: This invention is related to the use of ionic liquids of general formula C+A?, where C+ represents a cation of organic or inorganic type, specifically of the type imidazolium, pyridinium or ammonium salts, while the anion A? are derivatives which are halides, salts of iron (III), aluminum salts (III), acetate and benzoate, though not exclusively. These agents act as ionic liquid extractants of nitrogenous compounds present in hydrocarbon streams through a process of liquid-liquid extraction thereby can be reduced by more than 60% the content of these contaminants in hydrocarbon streams.

  • Patent number: 8007776
Abstract: Vaccine composition containing IL-15 for active immunization to treatment diseases related to over-expression of this cytokine. The technical aim pursued in this invention is to inhibit IL-15 activity through development of a therapeutic vaccine which elicits IL-15 neutralizing antibodies in the immunized host. IL-15 can be presented in this vaccine composition either alone or coupled to a carrier such as the P64k protein with a vaccine adjuvant such as Aluminum hydroxide. Besides, this invention is related to the use of this vaccine for treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis and other IL-15 over-expressing related diseases, and leukemia, where this cytokine acts as a growth factor.

  • Publication number: 20100314199
Abstract: In one embodiment, a fall protection system including a J-shaped stanchion that attaches to a roof truss (or rafter) in such a manner as to enable the entire girth of the roof truss overhang (or rafter) to be the sole support for the stanchion. The stanchion is designed to bend below the fascia and return up above the roof surface where successive stanchions similarly attached are connected via a fall protection guardrails providing fall protection for all workers. This single point of attachment allows the carpenters to attach the stanchions prior to hoisting the trusses onto the roof bearing walls. As soon as the trusses are properly braced, the guardrails can be hoisted and secured. In another embodiment, the disclosure includes a combination fall protection and catwalk system for above-ground floors. In another embodiment, the disclosure includes a fall protection system for reroofing applications.

  • Publication number: 20100046602
Abstract: A symbol timing derivation system derives receiver timing from received symbols which avoids the need for a pilot tone, thereby reducing power consumption and expanding usable bandwidth. The system is implemented by using a calculation that finds the timing phase error. The timing phase error is then averaged and controls a phase locked loop (PLL). This PLL in turn controls a voltage-controlled oscillator, which handles the modem receiver timing. A centroid calculation can be included to bias the voltage-controlled oscillator to push the equalizer coefficients back to the ideal position. The system can be implemented in either a point-to-point modem environment or a multi-point environment, for example, but not limited to, MVL or DMT. The voltage-controlled oscillator may also be implemented to control transmitter timing, so that the central office modem and the remote modem will operate more-or-less synchronously, reducing the need for large equalizer corrections at either end.
