  • Publication number: 20240165587
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of microporous carbon materials to perform selective separations of nitrogen in gas mixtures such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, methane and C2, C3 and C4+ hydrocarbons, with high efficiency, shaped of microspheres or cylinders from copolymers of poly (vinylidene chloride-co-methyl acrylate) with density of 1.3 to 1.85 g/cm·sup·3 or poly (vinylidene chloride-co-vinyl chloride) with density of 1.3 to 1.85 g/cm.sup.3, using two stages. The first stage consists of a surface passivation of the material by chemical attack in a highly alkaline alcohol solution, with the aim of effecting a precarbonization on the surface of the copolymer that during the pyrolysis process is not deformed and gradually develops microporosity. The material of the first stage presents, in the layer, percentages between 55% to 85% carbon, between 5% to 20% oxygen, and between 10% to 40% chlorine.

  • Publication number: 20170006836
Abstract: A device and method detects the orientation of a copulating livestock to indicate when the copulating livestock is mounted over a recipient livestock. A mounting base attaches the device over the dorsal spine and in the middle line of the back of the copulating livestock. The copulating livestock orients its dorsal spinal cord at about 45° incline while copulating with the recipient livestock. A tilt sensor detects the angle of inclination in relation to gravity or a predetermined reference angle. The copulation angle is generally greater than 45°. A counting apparatus registers the count every time the copulation angle is detected. A transmitter sends the count data to a remote data storage for analysis of copulating patterns. A solar panel provides renewable energy to recharge a battery. A control portion controls the device with a power switch and a reset switch. A camera and light provide more efficient analysis.

  • Publication number: 20170006826
Abstract: An apparatus and method directionally administers at least one medication directly onto livestock while also monitoring the effect of the medication and tracking the movement and orientation of the livestock. The apparatus periodically administers the medication at a predetermined dosage. The apparatus also tracks the position and orientation of the livestock as an indication of whether the medication is effective. A solar cell provides renewable energy for powering the apparatus. A dispenser directionally and topically sprays medication on the wither area of the livestock. The medication is stored in at least one reservoir. A tracking portion tracks the position of the livestock in a predetermined range. The orientation of the livestock is also determined. The apparatus can be controlled directly from a control portion, or remotely from a remote processor. The apparatus minimize time and costs for managing livestock, especially over large areas and large numbers of livestock.

  • Patent number: 8821721
Abstract: The oil recovery boom of the present invention is designed to collect great amounts of oil if used in conjunction with many other booms. The oil recovery boom includes a set of eductors, and removes the adjacent oil for extraction from the sea. A high pressure pump placed at one end of the boom takes water from the sea and pumps it through a flexible manifold. The manifold in turn provides water pressure to each eductor and, the oil carried with the water is then pumped into a barge or containment with overflow sections, which will then separate the oil from the water for later processing. Embodiments of the present invention adopts an array of eductors which can be positioned either in series or in parallel. The oil recovery boom of the present invention provides for the immediate and large-scale removal of oil from the sea.

  • Publication number: 20120251446
Abstract: Bioconjugates for use in imaging are disclosed include a linker sequence fused to a polypeptide capable of binding a target in a biological system. The linker sequence is designed so that it is capable of being radiolabelled, e.g. with a complex comprising a radionuclide, via a free cysteine residue and the polyhistidine sequence in the label that are both capable of simultaneously binding to a complex comprising the radionuclide. These interactions can improve significantly the rate and efficiency of radiolabelling compared to either protein with the His-tag or the free cysteine alone. Optionally, the free cysteine residue provides a site which can be covalently bonded to a moiety such as a second label, in a site-specific manner.

  • Patent number: 4380011
Abstract: A VHF television receiving antenna arrangement includes a cabinet having a loop of electrically conductive material disposed on its top, back and sides, preferrably on the inside surfaces thereof. A gap in the loop defines first and second feed terminals to which circuitry for tuning the loop connects. The loop is tuned thereby over at least a portion of the television frequency bands, responsive to a control voltage. Signals from the tuning circuitry are coupled to a television receiver tuner by a transmission line. Such loops can also have capacitors connected across tuning gaps for making the directional response of the loop more uniform at relatively lower frequencies (e.g. VHF channels 2-6) or switching diodes connected across control gaps for changing the directional response of the loop at relatively higher frequencies (e.g. VHF channels 7-13).

  • Patent number: 4339827
Abstract: Tuning circuitry for a VHF television (TV) antenna tunes such antenna for signals corresponding to the TV channel selected and couples those signals to the tuning system of a television receiver. An antenna has a pair of signal terminals across which the tuning circuitry connects to form a resonance circuit therewith for tuning the antenna. A variable capacitance responds to a control voltage to develop the appropriate value of tuning capacitance. Impedances, e.g. inductors or capacitors or resistors, are coupled to the resonance circuit at least at selected times by switches. An amplifier couples signals from the resonance circuit to the tuning system of the TV receiver.
