Abstract: Provided are compositions that are formulated for use on human skin, and designed to maintain optimal skin surface pH over an extended period of time. Provided herein are also methods of using such compositions for treating skin barrier function and associated disorders.

The system includes a dispensing apparatus configured to hold a plurality of cartridges each having a different cosmetic material and to dispense at least one cosmetic material from at least one of the cartridges; a user interface configured to receive a selection of a color from a user; and circuitry configured to receive the selection of the color received at the user interface, determine an amount of each of one or more cosmetic materials to form the selected color, transmit the determined amount of each of the one or more cosmetic materials to the dispensing apparatus, and control the dispensing apparatus to dispense the determined amount of each of the one or more cosmetic materials from the plurality of cartridges.

Abstract: An apparatus to realize a personalized cosmetic composition including a feeder to expose a base stored in a chamber, a dispenser to dispense a selected treatment mixture onto the base and form a treated base, a collector to collect the treated base from the chamber and depose the treated base onto a collection container, and a compacter to compact an accumulation of the treated base inside the collection container. The dispenser includes a plurality of reservoirs containing a plurality of additives to be selectively incorporated into the selected treatment mixture, wherein the plurality of additives includes a plurality of pigments to produce the selected treatment mixture in a selected of color.

Abstract: Devices and methods useful for sensing epidermal tissue are disclosed. Thermal data from the devices allows for determination of thermal transport properties, such as thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and heat capacity per unit volume. From these data, tissue parameters, such as hydration state, stratum corneum thickness, epidermis thickness and vasculature structure may be determined. These parameters may be used, for example, to evaluate the efficacy of dermatological compounds.
