Publication number: 20120112597Abstract: Stator designs have wide-mouth slots between adjacent poles. Wire coils with high slot fill conductivity are formed around the poles. In some designs, the wire coils are wave wound around the poles. Thick bar conductors can be used for making the wire coils. The wire coils may be inserted using nozzle dispensers or transferred from a pre-form mandrel. In other designs, the wire coils are pre-formed on transferable pockets that are then mounted on the poles. Optional pole extensions or shoes can be attached to the stator poles after the wire coils are formed around the poles.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2011Publication date: May 10, 2012Applicant: ATOP S.p.A.Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Massimo Pelletta, Rodolfo Pes, Gianfranco Stratico

Publication number: 20050178021Abstract: A heating oven for use in dynamo-electric machine component manufacture is provided. The oven uses forced air heating to raise the temperature of in-process component subassemblies to suitable process temperatures. The heating oven includes a rotating drum mounted in a cabinet. A number of open-ended tubular cradles are disposed in circular arrays between the drum faces. Batches of component subassemblies may be individually loaded into the cradles for heat treatment. Air flow channels are set up in the oven cabinet to evenly distribute heated air through individual cradles. Heated air after passing over the individual in-process subassemblies, exits the cradles through side slots in the cradle walls into the interior of the drum. The exiting air is reheated and recirculated through the heating oven.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2004Publication date: August 18, 2005Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico

Publication number: 20050144778Abstract: A resin application station has processing units for heating dynamo-electric machine components. In one or more of the processing units batches of components are placed in fixtures on vertically rotating support plates. The vertically rotating support plates are mounted in cabinets. Heated air is circulated in the cabinets to control the ambient temperature. The components travel through regions of the controlled temperature ambient as the support plates rotate and are heated to process temperatures. Intermittent rotation of a support plate in a unit allows loading and unloading of an individual component from the unit while the support plate is stationary.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2005Publication date: July 7, 2005Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico

Patent number: 6902132Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for wire winding and fabrication for dynamo-electric machine components such as ferromagnetic armature or stator cores for motors or the like. Wire may be wound onto individual portions of dynamo-electric machine components, which may then be assembled to form complete components. Wire may be wound by steering a rotating flyer or the like in a trajectory that closely follows the surface of the core onto which the wire is being wound. Wire may also be wound by rotating the portions during winding. The same holding members that are used to hold the portions during winding may be used to hold the portions during assembly of the portions into machine components.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2003Date of Patent: June 7, 2005Assignee: Axis USA, Inc.Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico

The support plate rotations in all the units are synchronized to increase the station throughput.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2002Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Assignee: Axis USA, Inc.Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico

Publication number: 20050006977Abstract: Apparatus and methods for winding dynamo-electric machine components are provided. A dynamo-electric machine component may be provided that includes an annular body portion that is at least partially constructed from an insulating material, a plurality of members extending radially inward from the body portion forming a plurality of slots therebetween, and wire coils that are received within the plurality of slots. Each wire coil may extend from one slot of the plurality of slots to another slot of the plurality of slots. Wire coils may be assembled on such a dynamo-electric machine component using a ram member that positions the wire coils with respect to the component and an annular member that presses a portion of the wire coils against the body portion of the component to maintain the position of the coils.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2004Publication date: January 13, 2005Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico

Publication number: 20040163232Abstract: Apparatus and methods for winding wire around the poles and partly within the slots of dynamoelectric machine components, such as stators. Some stators are designed with poles having pole tips that extend relatively far in a peripheral direction, perhaps reaching nearly half way across the stator core. When the pole tips reach so far around the stator core and thus leave little room between opposing pole tips, it may be difficult to use winding technologies with needles that need to move between opposing pole tips. Therefore, stators may be divided into segments for the winding of each pole, and then reassembled to form a complete stator. The segments are wound by rotating the segment and a wire guide structure about an axis, while providing wire to the rotating apparatus from a wire source.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2004Publication date: August 26, 2004Applicant: AXIS USA, Inc.Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico

Patent number: 6708915Abstract: A winder and system for winding wire onto core supports of dynamo-electric cores with translational, rotational and radial motions with respect to a central longitudinal axis of the dynamo-electric core is provided. The radial motion may preferably be provided by an independent assembly. In one embodiment of the invention, the radial motion may be provided by rotating a cam disk which is movably connected to, and causes radial motion of, a pair of rollers. The pair of rollers are mounted on support arms which are connected to a needle for dispensing the wire such that movement of the pair causes similar movement of the needle. In another embodiment of the invention, an inclined way is coupled to a slide portion of the needle. When the inclined way is moved parallel to the axis, it causes a radial motion of the slide portion.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2003Date of Patent: March 23, 2004Assignee: Axis U.S.A., Inc.Inventors: Raffaele Becherucci, Gianfranco Stratico, Vieri Ancillotti
