  • Patent number: 5718824
Abstract: An improved collector hood for a sedimentation tank. The collector hood is disposed within the tank and separates the tank into an upper reaction compartment and a lower settling compartment. The collector hood has the shape of an inverted funnel including a tubular upper portion connected to an outlet in the sidewall of the upper reaction compartment and a downwardly diverging conical wall lower portion, the periphery of which engages the sidewall of the tank for separating the tank into the upper reaction compartment and the lower settling compartment. A plurality of downcomer pipes are arranged around the axis of the collector hood and depend from the downwardly diverging conical wall into the lower settling compartment.

  • Patent number: 5207930
Abstract: A filtration system utilizing a helical cartridge wherein the differential in pressure between the pressure inside and the pressure outside of the helix is effective in controlling the spacing between the coils of the helix. Each coil of the helix is provided with radial grooves of predetermined size corresponding to the smallest particle size to be trapped by the cartridge and prevented from entering the interior of the helix. The coils are maintained closed during the filtering cycle and are opened during the backwash cycle.

  • Patent number: 4991780
Abstract: A duocone spray nozzle having two concentric peripheral orifices which will produce two hollow spray cones, one inside the other. Each orifice size is varied by employing its own spring and each spring acts independently and is compressed under its own pressure drop. The springs are designed so that the inner spring will open the inner orifice at a pressure drop which is lower than the pressure drop occurring at the outer office. Therefore, the inner spray cone occurs before the outer spray cone. When the pressure drop at the inner orifice exceeds a predetermined value, the outer orifice opens and after this occurs there will be two spray cones. A hold structure aids in separating the two spray cones.

  • Patent number: 4981113
Abstract: A deaerator tray in the form of a horizontally elongated trough for receiving a quantity of liquid to be deaerated. The trough has a flat bottom having a pair of spaced, elongated sides having upper liquid overflow edges. Guide structure is provided for directing the flow of liquid overflowing from the edges, the guide structure includes a pair of flat elongated inclined wall members each directly connected to a respective one of the sides below the upper liquid overflow edges along the length thereof. The wall members extend outwardly away from each other and downwardly away from the respective upper liquid overflow edges. Each wall member is inclined relative to the vertical and terminates in a lower edge to enhance deaeration of the liquid as the latter is guided down the wall members and falls from the lower edge.

  • Patent number: 4586718
Abstract: A sealing assembly suited for use in a high temperature and/or high pressure environment with a device such as a pump having a rotatable shaft. The sealing assembly comprises a sealing ring including a body portion having a flange with an end face at one end thereof, the sealing ring being adapted to be mounted on the shaft and rotatable relative thereto. A first gland is loosely mounted on the shaft adjacent the sealing ring, the gland having a first recess to receive the body portion of the sealing ring and the gland having a second recess surrounding the first recess to receive the flange of the sealing ring. The gland is dimensioned relative to the sealing ring whereby the gland is adapted to be loosely mounted on the shaft and the sealing ring for floating action relative thereto subject to the pressure of the environment.
