  • Publication number: 20230024409
Abstract: A noise suppressing heat exchanger (also referred to as heat sink) includes a plurality of heat dissipating fins formed with baffles. The baffles suppress noise from a fan by slowing air flow and creating internal reflections within the heat exchanger that reflect noise away from the air flow path, absorbing sound energy and potentially setting up standing waves which dissipate noise via destructive interference. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 9546633
Abstract: A nozzle for a fuel injector is disclosed. The nozzle may have a body having a base end, a tip end, and a central bore extending from the base end to the tip end. The nozzle may also have a sac located within the central bore at the tip end. Further, the nozzle may have an orifice located within the tip end and in communication with the sac. The orifice may be skewed at an azimuthal angle relative to a radial direction of the central bore.

  • Patent number: 9074520
Abstract: A cylinder liner for an engine is disclosed. The cylinder liner may have a hollow cylindrical sleeve extending from a first end to a second end along a longitudinal axis. The cylinder liner may also have a plurality of circumferentially spaced intake ports formed within the sleeve. The plurality of intake ports may have a first intake port positioned at a first axial distance from the first end. The plurality of intake ports may also have a second intake port positioned at a second axial distance from the first end.

  • Publication number: 20150020765
Abstract: A piston for a compression ignition internal combustion engine includes a piston body having an outer cylindrical surface defined along a longitudinal piston axis. A piston includes a combustion face defining a combustion bowl including an inner bowl surface, an inner rim portion and an outer rim portion. The combustion face includes a cross-sectional profile of rotation about the longitudinal piston axis. A first profile of the profile of rotation includes a convex curve segment, a linear segment outboard the convex curve segments and a first set of concave curve segments outboard the linear segment. The first set of concave curve segments defines a first radius of curvature. A second profile is provided outboard the first profile and includes a second set of concave curve segments. The second set of concave curve segments defines a second radius of curvature greater than the first radius of curvature.

  • Publication number: 20140299100
Abstract: A method for controlling natural gas injection in a cylinder of an engine through a gas admission valve is provided. The method comprises determination of an amount of substitution, which varies between 30%-85% of a combustible mixture. Duration of injection is determined based on the amount of substitution. Based on the duration of injection, a first crank angle and a second crank angle, selected from a range of 325 degrees to 420 degrees, are determined to start and stop the injection, respectively. The natural gas is injected for the determined duration of injection, by opening the gas admission valve at the first crank angle and closing the gas admission valve at the second crank angle. The amount of substitution of the natural gas is modulated to maintain engine operating parameters at optimal. Based on the modulated duration of injection, the duration of injection for the natural gas is tuned.
