  • Patent number: 7043938
Abstract: A method for thawing and removing frozen material from a cryogenic separation unit such as that found in an olefin production plant comprising employing a flushing agent to thaw and remove the frozen material, purging the flushing agent with a gas, and removing residual flushing agent with a solvent that is miscible with the flushing agent and has a freezing temperature substantially lower than the flushing agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 2002
Date of Patent: May 16, 2006
    Assignee: Equistar Chemicals, LP
Inventors: Raghu S. Narayan, Steven T. Coleman, James H. Walker
  • Patent number: 6780395
Abstract: A method for forming a synthesis gas with a tailored hydrogen/carbon monoxide ratio that is optimized for use in a downstream process wherein membrane gas separation is employed to form a hydrogen rich stream and a separate synthesis gas product which has a tailored hydrogen/carbon monoxide ratio.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 30, 2002
Date of Patent: August 24, 2004
    Assignee: Equistar Chemicals, LP

  • Publication number: 20030223931
Abstract: A method for forming a synthesis gas with a tailored hydrogen/carbon dioxide ratio that is optimized for use in one or more predetermined downstream processes wherein membrane gas separation is employed to form a hydrogen rich stream and a separate synthesis gas product which product has said tailored ratio.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 6096239
Abstract: A method for removing sulfur dioxide from gas streams, comprising contacting the gas stream with an aqueous absorption liquid, transferring the liquid to another location, then mildly heating the liquid to recover the sulfur dioxide. This method allows a removal of 99.9% of the sulfur dioxide, the recovery of very pure sulfur dioxide, is resistant to upsets due to variations in the gas stream, and is cost effective.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 1998
Date of Patent: August 1, 2000
    Assignee: Milmac Operating Company
Inventors: Johnson H. Y. Fung, Raghu S. Narayan, Chien Kuei Tsai
