Abstract: A device for making a beverage particularly a coffee-based beverage, comprising an electronic control unit; a portable cooking pot having a bottom and an open top for receiving a mixture that is added to the cooking pot to make the beverage, in which a cooking process is performed; a heating means for heating the cooking pot during the cooking process; and an infrared temperature sensor for contactless sensing the temperature in the cooking pot. Said infrared temperature sensor is configured to detect the temperature of an upper surface of the mixture during the cooking process and said infrared temperature sensor is disposed in proximity to the cooking pot, at a distance such as to allow the measurement of the temperature of the upper surface of the mixture contactless.
