Publication number: 20250090784Abstract: A fluid connector comprises first and second connector parts. The first connector part has a body, a passage through the body, and a cylindrical outer wall with a groove around its circumference. The second connector part has a second body, a second passage, and a plurality of arms extending from a first end of the second body, each arm comprising an inwardly extending projecting portion. The arms allow the projecting portions to engage the groove. The groove has a plurality of contiguous helical portions having alternating orientations. At least one of the connector parts comprises a magnetic portion and the other comprises a second magnetic/ferromagnetic portion. Magnetic attraction between the magnetic portion and the second magnetic/ferromagnetic portion biases the connector parts towards a fully connected configuration. Relative rotation of the connector parts causes the bodies to move away from each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2022Publication date: March 20, 2025Inventors: Rahul KHERA, Ryan Michael KIRKPATRICK, Michael Kenneth TRUSCOTT

Publication number: 20240252779Abstract: A gas flow control structure for a respiratory therapy system, which may be located on a patient interface, may function as both an anti-asphyxia valve (AAV) and a vent. The gas flow control structure may comprise: a base member; a vent member comprising a vent opening through which a flow of gas can pass from a pressurised first volume to an ambient second volume; an AAV opening formed between the base member and the vent member; and an AAV member. The AAV member may be a flexible, resilient membrane substantially annular in shape when projected on to a plane. The AAV member may be movable between: an activated configuration in which gas can flow between the first and second volumes through the AAV opening; and a deactivated configuration in which the AAV member forms a seal with the vent member so gas is blocked from flowing through the AAV opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2022Publication date: August 1, 2024Inventors: Shiva Kumar SHANMUGA SUNDARA, Rahul KHERA

Publication number: 20240108840Abstract: A patient interface system for delivery of respiratory therapy to a patient comprises: a nasal portion including a nasal chamber and a nasal sealing portion adapted to form a seal with the patients including an opening; an inlet conduit connected to the nasal portion to deliver the pressurized, breathable gas to the nasal chamber; and a nasal chamber coupling component adapted to form part of a releasable fluid coupling to enable the nasal portion to be fluidly coupled to a mouth portion to communicate a portion of the pressurized, breathable gas through the nasal chamber opening to the mouth portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2020Publication date: April 4, 2024Inventors: Adam Francis BARLOW, Luke Andrew STANISLAS, Iain McNicol FINLAY, Christopher Daniel PARKER, Hongjiang YU, Luke Emmanuel KLINKENBERG, Hugh Francis Stewart THOMAS, Michiel KOOIJ, Paul Derrick WATSON, Rahul KHERA, Nigel Paul GREIG, Shannon DAY, Vinay MANJUNATH

Publication number: 20240066247Abstract: A gas-washout vent includes a housing with a first wall with one or more passages through the wall configured to provide fluid communication with a portion of the patient interface system exposed to a therapy pressure. The passages include respective first openings on a first surface of the first wall. The housing at least partially defines a second opening in communication with ambient atmosphere. A diffusing material is located at least partially within the housing to be adjacent the first surface. A surface of the diffusing material facing the first surface is spaced away from the first surface by a gap that extends to provide a fluid communication between all of the first openings and between all of the first openings and the second opening. The housing is configured so that air is prevented from flowing out of the housing at all areas directly opposite each of the first openings.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Tatt Hoong CHOW, Muditha Pradeep DANTANARAYANA, Rahul KHERA, Dimitri Marco MAURER, Min Li TEE

Publication number: 20230381442Abstract: A patient interface includes a plenum chamber, a seal-forming structure, and a positioning and stabilising structure. The positioning and stabilising structure includes a gas delivery tube to deliver the flow of air to the entrance of the patients airways via the seal-forming structure, and an elongate textile sleeve provided around the gas delivery tube and arranged to be in contact, in use, with the patients face. The sleeve includes a wall with an opening, which allows the patient to view a portion of the gas delivery tube. A strap engaging portion is configured to protrude through the opening of the textile sleeve in use. A clearance exists in a longitudinal direction between an edge of the opening and the strap engaging portion. The clearance allows the gas delivery tube to stretch, in use, without the strap engaging portion contacting the edge of the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2021Publication date: November 30, 2023Inventors: Rahul KHERA, Thontira SUPAOPASPHUN, Bangzheng TAN, Nwe Oo THA, Mohankumar Krishnan VALIYAMBATH
