  • Publication number: 20190142292
Abstract: This is directed to an electronic device having an integrated sensor for detecting a user's cardiac activity and cardiac electrical signals. The electronic device can include a heart sensor having several leads for detecting a user's cardiac signals. The leads can be coupled to interior surfaces of the electronic device housing to hide the sensor from view, such that electrical signals generated by the user can be transmitted from the user's skin through the electronic device housing to the leads. In some embodiments, the leads can be coupled to pads placed on the exterior of the housing. The pads and housing can be finished to ensure that the pads are not visibly or haptically distinguishable on the device, thus improving the aesthetic qualities of the device. Using the detected signals, the electronic device can identify or authenticate the user and perform an operation based on the identity of the user.

  • Publication number: 20190149101
Abstract: A Class-D amplifier having a low power dissipation mode includes first and second independent output stages that receive respective first and second level power supply voltages for driving a load coupled to the amplifier output during respective first and second operating modes. Bypass switches are controllable to disconnect the second output stage from the output during the first operating mode and to connect the second output stage to the output during the second operating mode. The operating modes are selected based on the amplifier output power level. First and second independent pre-driver stages receive the respective first and second level power supply voltages for driving the respective first and second independent output stages. During the second operating mode the first pre-driver stage is placed into a low power dissipation state and during the first operating mode the second pre-driver stage is placed into a low power dissipation state.

  • Patent number: 10288355
Abstract: Heat exchanger assemblies and methods are provided for cooling the interior of an enclosure (e.g., electrical cabinets, computer server racks, chemical chambers, and animal cages). Heat is transferred via thermal conduction from a first plurality of surfaces positioned inside the enclosure to a second plurality of surfaces positioned outside the enclosure. The first and second plurality of surfaces remain in thermal contact with one another during use. Heat is dissipated from the second plurality of surfaces to the ambient air outside the isolated environment without the ambient outside air mixing together with the air inside the enclosure. This, in turn, inexpensively removes heat from the air inside the enclosure and prevents contaminants from entering the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 10289403
Abstract: A system to reduce strain on server farm computing resources by over-riding “off-peak” patching schedules in response to performance failures occurring on a server farm. Embodiments disclosed herein determine a patching schedule for causing builds of patches to be sequentially installed on server farms during an off-peak usage time-range. Responsive to a performance failure occurring on the server farm, embodiments disclosed herein identify a particular patch that is designed to resolve the performance failure. Then, the patching schedule is over-ridden to expedite an out-of-sequence installation of whichever build is first to include the particular patch. Because resolution of the performance failure is expedited, the impact of the performance failure on the computing resources of the server farm is reduced as compared to existing server farm patching systems.

  • Patent number: 10285686
Abstract: Methods and devices for repairing a cardiac valve. A minimally invasive procedure includes creating an access in the apex region of the heart through which one or more instruments may be inserted. The device can implant artificial heart valve chordae tendineae into cardiac valve leaflet tissues to restore proper leaflet function and prevent reperfusion. The device punctures the apex of the heart and travels through the ventricle. The tip of the device rests on the defective valve and punctures the valve leaflet. A suture or a suture/guide wire combination is inserted, securing the top of the leaflet to the apex of the heart. A resilient element or shock absorber mechanism adjacent to the outside of the apex of the heart minimizes the linear travel of the device in response to the beating of the heart or opening/closing of the valve.

  • Patent number: 10290648
Abstract: An alternating stack of insulating layers and spacer material layers located over a substrate. The spacer material layers are formed as, or are subsequently replaced with, electrically conductive layers. Memory stack structures are formed through the alternating stack. After formation of a backside trench, electrically-conductive-layer-level recessed cavities are formed by laterally recessing the electrically conductive layers around the backside trench. Electrically conductive rails are formed on remaining portions of the electrically conductive layers by selective deposition of a conductive material. Insulating-layer-level recessed cavities are formed by laterally recessing the insulating layers around the backside trench. A continuous insulating material layer can be formed in the insulating-layer-level recessed cavities with air gap rails cavities to reduce capacitive coupling among the electrically conducive rails.

  • Publication number: 20190138342
Abstract: An illustrative “Live Synchronization” feature in a data storage management system can reduce the downtime that arises in failover situations. The illustrative Live Sync embodiment uses backup data to create and maintain a ready (or “warm”) virtualized computing platform comprising one or more virtual machines (“VMs”) that are configured and ready to be activated and take over data processing from another data processing platform operating in the production environment. The “warm” computing platform awaits activation as a failover solution for the production system(s) and can be co-located at the production data center, or configured at a remote or disaster recovery site, which in some embodiments is configured “in the cloud.” Both local and remote illustrative embodiments are discussed herein. An “incremental forever” approach can be combined with deduplication and synthetic full backups to speed up data transfer and update the disaster recovery sites.

  • Publication number: 20190141539
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive data transmissions on primary cell and transmit feedback for the data transmissions on a secondary cell, where carriers on the secondary cell have a subcarrier spacing that is greater than the subcarrier spacing of carriers on the primary cell. The UE may perform a self-contained transmission by receiving data and transmitting feedback within a single transmission opportunity. The base station may schedule the UE for only downlink transmissions in the primary cell, removing uplink transmission resources and guard periods from slots of primary cell carriers. The UE may transmit other information on the high band cell as well, such as a channel quality indicator or scheduling requests. The base station may apply rate adjustments for downlink transmission in the next slot of a primary cell carrier.
