  • Patent number: 10282365
Abstract: It is disclosed to determine, in a second process of compiling data that yields a second compiled database, whether a first compiled database, which is yield from a first process of compiling data performed before the second process of compiling data, contains first object data defining a first object that is considered at least similar to a second object; and to include, in the second process of compiling data, second object data defining the second object into the second compiled database, if it is determined that first object data defining a first object that is considered at least similar to the second object is not contained in the first compiled database, and including the first object data defining the first object into the second compiled database otherwise. Further disclosed are corresponding apparatuses, a corresponding system and a corresponding computer program code.

  • Publication number: 20160047670
Abstract: A method for generating a next valid character tree may comprise:—providing a first name, the first name comprising a first character represented by a first character code,—providing a second name, the second name comprising a second character represented by a second character code, wherein the first character and the second character are homoglyphs with respect to each other, and—generating a next valid character tree according to the names such that the next valid character tree comprises a combined node, which is a place holder for the first character and for the second character.

  • Publication number: 20140229298
Abstract: Determination of whether ad-blocking software is executing on a client device may be provided. Advertising content from an advertising server may be received at a client device. The advertising content may be provided in a client application executing on the client device and may have information embedded therein. The client device may attempt to detect the information embedded within the advertising content. Based on the attempted detection, it may be determined whether ad-blocking software is executing on the client device. When it is determined that ad-blocking software is executing on the client device, a remedial action may be performed.

  • Patent number: 8688366
Abstract: A computer implemented method of operating a navigation system to provide geographic location information is provided. The method comprises receiving a query text string representing a query for a geographic location and providing a plurality of candidate geographic locations for the queried geographic location from a geographic database. The method receives a selection of one of the candidate geographic locations from a user and records the candidate geographic location that was selected in a use history database. The method increases a usage pattern weight for the candidate geographic location that was selected and increases a usage pattern weight for a parent geographic feature that includes the candidate geographic location that was selected.

  • Patent number: 8401780
Abstract: Locations having similar names are identified and placed in groups. The naming similarity includes how names or portions of names are spelled and/or pronounced. The names within the groups are then ranked by priority. The ranking is calculated using one or more attributes in a geographic database, such as the number of road segments associated with a named location, the population associated with a named location, distance to a named location, and administrative level of a named location. The ranking may be used during destination entry, when providing route guidance and/or maps, and when providing additional information to a user of a navigation system, such as demographic information.
