Abstract: A post for retaining wires in wine and fruit growing includes a basic body with first and second limbs made of sheet metal, on which there is disposed at least one transverse extension arm running substantially at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the basic body and having a multiplicity of hooks and/or eyelets for retaining the wires. The first and second limbs each contain an opening with a shape adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the transverse extension arm, and through which the transverse extension arm can be pushed into the basic body, substantially at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the basic body, into a locking position. A quick-acting closure produces a form-locking connection between the basic body and the transverse extension arm, in the locking position.
