    Abstract: A balloon catheter with a tubular catheter shaft having a proximal and a distal end. The elongated dilatation balloon is arranged on the catheter shaft in the vicinity of the distal end. An indispensable covering sleeve is movable along the catheter shaft. The covering sleeve has a first portion with a first inner diameter surrounding the catheter shaft and a second portion with a second inner diameter being pushable over the deflated dilatation balloon. The second inner diameter is larger than said first inner diameter. The covering sleeve provides continuous adjustability of the fuller expandable balloon length.
