Patent number: 8317443Abstract: A shear screw has predetermined breaking points in two planes, separated axially from one another, and it has centrally a blind hole extending over a substantial length and having a cross section which is suitable for transmitting a torque to the shear screw by means of a pin-like tool of adapted dimensions which can be inserted into the blind hole. The blind hole extends to about level with the predetermined breaking point which is arranged in the lower region, facing the end face of the shear screw, of the latter and has a strength greater than that of the other predetermined breaking point.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2008Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: NexansInventors: Ing Gart Stauch, Volker Markgraf, Rainer Bachmann, Peter Grötsch

Patent number: 4558618Abstract: An adjustable fence for a saw table, or the like, comprises a main fence member defining a longitudinal direction and having a first clamping portion at one end. An auxiliary fence member is pivoted to the main fence member about an axis at right angles to that longitudinal direction and extends from the other end of the main fence member. The auxiliary fence member has a second clamping portion spaced longitudinally from the first clamping portion. A screw engages between the main and auxiliary fence members and is actuatable by one hand of an operator to adjustably pivot the auxiliary fence member relative to the main fence member to clamp the first and second clamping portions against opposite sides of the table. An extension fence may be slidably mounted over the main fence member and be adjustably secured in position by the same screw.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1984Date of Patent: December 17, 1985Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Rainer Bachmann, Hartmut van Hauten

Patent number: 4524897Abstract: With a solenoid actuated tacker the setting of the penetration depth of the fastening elements is effected by adjusting the operating stroke of the armature with respect to the solenoid coil actuating the armature. To accomplish this there is preferably provided an armature stop displaceable in the direction of movement of the armature. The stop is preferably supported and moved by a cam-like element adjustably rotatable about an axis at right angles to the movement of the armature. In this way the drive-in depth of the fastening elements can simply and readily be adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1983Date of Patent: June 25, 1985Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventor: Rainer Bachmann

Patent number: 4382729Abstract: A depth of cut adjustment mechanism for a portable power planer having an adjustable front shoe whose elevational position controls the depth of cut of the tool. An S-shaped rod is fastened at one end to the adjustable front shoe and is threadedly engaged at its other end to an adjustment nut rotatably mounted in a race formed in the housing. A control knob having disposed thereon a scale referenced to a mark on the housing is secured to the nut so that rotation of the control knob causes a corresponding adjustment in the elevational position of the front shoe. A tension spring is connected between the front shoe and the housing to cancel out inherent tolerance play between the front shoe and the housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1980Date of Patent: May 10, 1983Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventor: Rainer Bachmann

Patent number: 4349057Abstract: The invention is directed to a cutting blade assembly (24) for a rotary cutter head (18) of a power planer tool (10). The blade assembly includes a pressure piece (36), and a blade carrier (60) which is mated with the pressure piece to define a blade slot (68) in which a cutting blade (70) is removably secured. The blade carrier (60) is fixed against movement relative to the pressure piece (36) by way of a dove-tail connection (46, 62) along the mating surfaces of the two pieces. The cutting blade (70) is fixed in elevation within the blade slot (68) by a projection (66) on the blade carrier (60) engaging a recess (72) on a side of the blade between its cutting edges.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1980Date of Patent: September 14, 1982Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Rainer Bachmann, Helmut Ulm

Patent number: 4347882Abstract: The invention is directed to a rotary cutterhead for a portable power planer tool, as well as a method of making the cutterhead. The cutterhead includes an elongated core and a pressure plate mounted on the core and which cooperates therewith to define a slot-like opening for receiving a cutting blade and locating the cutting edge thereof relative to the cutting circle of the cutterhead. The pressure plate is positioned and fixed in a permanent location relative to the core so that the cutting edge of any standard cutting blade of predetermined dimensions will extend from the opening beyond the cutting circle of the cutterhead a preferred optimum distance for performing a planing operation. The cutterhead includes a cover portion having a clamping edge which biases the pressure plate toward the core when the cover portion is tightened so that the two cooperate to clampingly retain the cutting blade within the opening.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1980Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventor: Rainer Bachmann

Patent number: 4335768Abstract: A depth of cut adjustment mechanism for a power planer including a double threaded elevation adjustment bolt (40) extending downwardly into threaded engagement with a stem (32) extending upwardly from the front shoe (16) of the planer (2). Rotation of the bolt (40) is controlled by a knob (20) attached to the head portion (54) of the bolt (40). The knob (20) has associated therewith a scale (41) which is readily calibrated so that a zero reading on the scale corresponds to a zero depth of cut. The adjustment mechanism further provides a positively located park position wherein the front shoe (16) is extended downwardly beyond the cutting blade (8) to effectively elevate the cutting blade (8) so that it does not mar the surface upon which the planar (2) is set when not in use.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1980Date of Patent: June 22, 1982Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventor: Rainer Bachmann

Patent number: 4194345Abstract: A rotary lawnmower includes a dish-like body defining the chassis of the lawnmower. The dish-like body has an upwardly extending side wall and a substantially continuous bottom wall. A set of wheels are mounted on this dish-like body. A motor is mounted in the body so as to cause the free end of the motor drive shaft to penetrate the bottom wall. The free end of the motor drive shaft is adapted for carrying a cutting blade thereon. A cover interfaces with the dish-like body to conjointly define therewith a housing enclosing the motor.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1978Date of Patent: March 25, 1980Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Peter P. Pioch, Rainer Bachmann
