  • Publication number: 20160232349
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting and responding to malware events associated with mobile/portable computing devices by means of a malware detection gateway device associated with a mobile service provider network are provided. According to one embodiment, a malware detection gateway device associated with a mobile service provider network detects a malware event based on a data stream transmitted to or from a portable computing device communicating with a packet data network via the mobile service provider network. Responsive thereto, the malware detection gateway device causes a malware reporting/notification message to be sent to a user of the portable computing device by sending a malware indicating message, including an Internet Protocol (IP) address of the portable computing device, to a lookup device.

  • Patent number: 8605581
Abstract: A session boarder controller (4, 5; 20) is use between peering networks (1, 2, 3) supporting packetized voice transport. In order to save expensive DSP resources, a dynamic transcoder resource management is proposed. The session boarder controller contains: I/O means (21, 22) having an I/O capacity that corresponds to at least a predefined number of trunks; digital signal processing means (23a, 23b, 23c) adapted to convert between different type of voice codecs used for packetized voice transport in incoming or outgoing connections, said digital signal processing means (23a, 23b, 23c) having limited processing capacity; and control means (24) adapted to determine idle processing capacity of said digital signal processing means (23a, 23b, 23c) and to reject resource-consuming connections that require codec conversion, if the total amount of idle processing capacity would fall below a threshold that depends on the number of idle trunks.

  • Publication number: 20070036151
Abstract: A network architecture for a next generation network which contains at least two domains and a method of transmitting a call using voice over IP technique over at least two network domains are presented, wherein instead of point-to-point connections between the two network domains, an interconnection domain is provided which contains a number of Session Border Controllers and at least one Softswitch for provisioning connections between selected ones of said Session Border Controllers.

  • Publication number: 20050129003
Abstract: The invention concerns a call control method for IP based telephone services and a call control server providing IP based telephone services within a communication network. The call control server assigns two or more IP telephone terminals to a telephone number commonly shared by these IP telephone terminals. It stores IP address data of these IP telephone terminals in the registry of this call control server which is responsible of VoIP calls directed to this telephone number. An IP telephone terminal transmits a presence message to the call control server when a presence button of the IP telephone terminal is pressed. VoIP calls directed to the telephone number are routed to that one of the IP telephone terminals assigned to the telephone number, the call control server has received the presence message from.

  • Publication number: 20040156356
Abstract: The object of the invention is to improve the voice quality during the transmission of voice over the Internet. A gateway is disclosed in which the packet length to be transmitted is varied as a function of the spatial distance and/or time distance of the called party from the caller. Different geographical service areas, such as local call, trunk call up to, e.g., 100 km, trunk call above 100 km, or local call, regional call, long-distance call, and/or different time ranges, e.g., time delay 30 ms, 50 ms, 100 ms, are introduced. On the assumption that local networks are less loaded than global ones, voice calls in the local area are assigned long packet lengths to optimize the bandwidth utilization and thus improve voice quality, and voice calls for long distances, where increased interference may occur on the long transmission link, are assigned short packet lengths, thereby increasing the throughput of voice data packets and thus improving voice quality.

  • Publication number: 20040076287
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide both data traffic reduction and a more representative background noise in a telecommunications system with voice activity detection. The invention provides a gateway being configured such as to detect background noise of a first party being connected to a second party via a VoIP connection in at least two different frequency ranges, to encode the noise in each frequency range into a noise parameter and to send the encoded noise parameters to a second gateway via the VoIP connection. The invention could also be applied to VoATM.

  • Publication number: 20040076268
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide continuity tests in mixed networks. The invention provides a computer program for a trunk gateway (TGW A) having specific computer program codes to enable the trunk gateway (TGW A) to perform the following steps when run on the hardware of the trunk gateway (TGW A): generating and sending a COT request tone via Internet (IP) or ATM to another trunk gateway (TGW B) or via another protocol, e.g. H.248, to a call server (CLS) and receiving and detecting a corresponding COT response from another trunk gateway (TGW B) or a call server (CLS).
