The oil supply system includes an oil sump and a heat exchanger, wherein the oil supply is provided for at least the following operating states of the automatic transmission: a converter mode; a drive mode in one of the mechanical gears; and a retarder mode. To optimize cooling of the oil volume flows in the different operating states two heat exchangers are provided, through which an oil volume flow can be conducted depending on the operating state of the transmission.
