  • Patent number: 6749232
Abstract: A pipe clamp has a tightenable clamp body and at least one spike strip arranged radially inwardly within the clamp body and slanted toward the axial center of the clamp body. The spike strip and a radially inner side of the clamp body delimit an acute angle therebetween. The spike strip has a first longitudinal edge provided with teeth projecting radially inwardly and slanted axially relative to the clamp body. The at least one spike strip has a second longitudinal edge supported in a radial direction and in an axial direction on the clamp body. An area between the at least one spike strip and the radially inner side of the clamp body defined by the acute angle is free of parts counteracting a bending of the at least one spike strip toward the radially inner side of the clamp body.

  • Patent number: 6692042
Abstract: A profiled clamp connecting two pipes has an articulated clamp strip having sidewalls and a transverse portion connecting the sidewalls and a tensioning closure around the clamp strip. A conical metal ring is arranged in the clamp strip and has a radially inner edge with teeth having free ends positioned on a circle with a diameter that is smaller than an inner diameter of the sidewalls. The conical ring has a radially outer edge resting in a bend between sidewall and transverse part. The first pipe has a widened end section with a conical transition and a radial flange engaging between the sidewalls. The second pipe has a smooth end section inserted into the widened end section. The outer flange diameter is greater than the inner sidewall diameter and smaller than the inner diameter of the transverse part. A seal rests between the smooth end section and the conical transition.

  • Patent number: 3934486
Abstract: A safety steering column for a vehicle comprises a rotatable composite shaft extending between the steering wheel assembly and the steering gear assembly for the vehicle. The composite shaft is divided intermediate its ends into two shaft parts and a relatively torsion-stiff joint couples adjacent ends of the two shaft parts. Two more relatively torsion-stiff joints couple opposite ends of the composite shaft to the steering wheel assembly and the steering gear assembly, respectively. The joint coupling together the two parts of the composite shaft is constructed to provide a pivot point radially offset from the central longitudinal axes of the shaft parts. Accordingly, upon application of an axial load on the composite shaft exceeding a predetermined axial load, the shaft parts will pivot relative to each other about the pivot point and the composite shaft will tend to buckle at the joint coupling the two parts of the shaft.
