  • Patent number: 7551890
Abstract: In a method for alignment of an antenna (1) with an adjustable directional characteristic in a mobile station in a mobile radio system, the alignment process is based on determination of two variables as a function of the direction, with the first variable being characteristic of the signal strength (6) and the second variable being characteristic of the signal quality (5, 15), and their evaluation (7). Furthermore, it is possible to make use of position information and alignment information relating inter alia to satellite-based navigation systems, and to take account of the alignment of the user.

  • Patent number: 7502598
Abstract: In a transmitting arrangement a power amplifier is coupled to a radio-frequency antenna arrangement via a controllable matching apparatus. This allows direct impedance transformation of the output of the power amplifier to the input of the radio-frequency antenna arrangement. There is no need for transformation to the 50 ohm standard. The power amplifier, matching apparatus and a control circuit for controlling the impedance of the matching apparatus form a functional unit, which is advantageously in the form of a monolithically integrated structure in a semiconductor body. A receiving arrangement is produced in the same way, comprising an antenna, a filter device and a matching apparatus connected between them.

  • Patent number: 7242361
Abstract: An antenna structure for transmitting and/or receiving radio waves has a symmetrically arranged radiator element with a first connecting terminal and a second connecting terminal, said radiator element being tuned to a useful frequency. Moreover, it has at least one conductor structure connected in parallel with the radiator element. The conductor structure comprises an open-circuited first line element, which is coupled to the first connecting terminal, and an open-circuited second line element, which is coupled to the second connecting terminal. In this case, a length of the first line element and of the second line element essentially corresponds to the integral multiple of a quarter wavelength corresponding to a blocking frequency. The first line element and the second line element run parallel to one another.

  • Patent number: 6633258
Abstract: The invention relates to a diversity reception system for motor vehicles for digitally modulated terrestrial and/or satellite radio signals in the frequency range above 1 GHz. The system includes an antenna arrangement of which the reception signal is supplied to a radio receiver. The antenna arrangement is designed as an antenna system having several individual antennas and several antenna components, and contains a controllable logic switching device. The individual antennas and the several antenna components are positioned on the vehicle so that for discrete switching positions of the controllable logic switch, reception signals that are different in terms of diversity are available at the antenna connection point. A reception level testing device is provided for the comparative determination of the reception level contained in the data flow in the HF-channel with an HF channel bandwidth B.

  • Patent number: 6574460
Abstract: A radiotelephone system for motor vehicles, having a group antenna system with a plurality of antenna elements, and a mobile radiotelephone with a high-frequency input for receiving radio signals. The group antenna system contains controllable phase and/or amplitude adjusting elements, which are set so that a directed reception with a main receiving direction is available. The controllable phase and/or amplitude adjusting elements are controlled by a processor for tracking the main receiving direction azimuthally in the direction of a fixed station with the help of a tracking signal. Controllable switching-elements for reversing antenna signals for diversity reception are integrated in the signal paths of the group antenna system so that the azimuthal main direction of reception is tracked with a defined tracking by setting a combination of the switching positions of the controllable switching elements.

  • Patent number: 6400334
Abstract: An antenna for a diversity antenna system in a vehicle for mounting within the zone of a window pane surrounded by the electrically conductive body of the vehicle, consisting of a rear window pane having a substantially rectangularly or trapezoidally shaped surface and electrically conductors applied to the surface. A conductive surface in terms of high frequency, and coherent with respect to its edge conductors (12) is formed within the rear window pane. The edge conductors (12) are insulated at high frequencies from the vehicle ground so that each edge conductor (12) of a side of the conductive surface (1) has a minimum length of about &lgr;/10. At least one zone of the edge conductors (12) is provided in the form of a low-resistance coupling conductor (12a) with a continuous minimum length of about &lgr;/10.

  • Patent number: 6236372
Abstract: An antenna installation for radio and television reception in motor vehicles in the meter and decimeter frequency wave ranges with a first antenna and-at least one additional antenna on the vehicle. The receiving signal available at each connection point of the antennas are combined in a collecting network. The signal then flows out of the collecting network to a reception point to form an overall receiving signal. The line and collecting network is designed to select the highest possible reception quality for a motor vehicle moving through a reception field based upon a statistical average.

  • Patent number: 6140969
Abstract: A multiband radio antenna arrangement for use in two way radio communication for (UHF) and (SHF) frequencies. The antenna arrangement contains at least one emitter antenna mounted on the outside of the motor vehicle adjacent to an upper edge of the vehicle's windshield near its roof. Supporting the emitter antenna is a base plate secured adjacent to the roof of the vehicle, the baseplate being electrically conductive and serving as the electrical ground plane for the emitter antenna. A thin antenna line feeds into the antenna and extends from a connection point on the baseplate to the upper edge of the windshield where it is bent and then extended on the inside surface of the windshield through an adhesive bead of the window and into the interior of the vehicle. In addition, connected to the baseplate is a patch antenna connected to the antenna line, the patch antenna for receiving an additional radio communication service.

  • Patent number: 5335010
Abstract: Antenna diversity receiving system for mobile reception of television signals having N antenna inputs, one diversity processor with as many inputs, and connected downstream in the system to a television receiver, the video signal of the television receiver and the line and picture synchronizing signals being applied to the diversity processor. The diversity processor comprises a time gate circuit which is opened by the line synchronizing pulses during the line blanking interval and switches the video signal through to the signal quality evaluation circuit. At that location an output signal having the signal quality of the video signal is produced which is applied to the control circuit. In the case of an imminent picture disturbance the control circuit produces an address signal so that very rapidly a new antenna signal or a linear combination derived from the antenna signals is applied to the television receiver by means of the antenna combiner.
