  • Patent number: 6802512
Abstract: The inventive sealing body (DK) is comprised of a number of segments (DS1, DS2, DS3) in whose sealing chambers (DKAA, DKAM) a sealing block (DBAS, DBMS) is arranged that is made of an easily deformable, in particular, gel-like substance. Tabs (ZE) which conically extend toward one another serve to center the cable which is inserted into the sealing body (DK) and held therein. Wedges (K) which can be actuated from the outside act upon assigned pressure elements (DE), which deform the corresponding sealing block (DBAS, DBMS) thus displacing the gel-like substance in a radial direction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2002
Date of Patent: October 12, 2004
    Assignee: CCS Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Thorsten Muller, Rainer M. Zimmer

  • Patent number: 5252050
Abstract: Disclosed is a light waveguide ribbon mold having a nozzle port shaped to closely receive the heated nozzle of a portable melt adhesive gun. Light waveguides are pulled by hand through a slot in the mold so that the melt adhesive forms a ribbon matrix around the light waveguide. The ribbon cools and hardens upon exiting from the mold.

  • Patent number: 5231688
Abstract: Described is a furcation kit for a multiple optical fiber cable. The cable end is secured by a mechanical compression fitting and optical fibers are routed into one or more plugs each having a plurality of single optical fiber passages. A protective shell is mechanically secured around the area of furcation. The kit eliminates the need for epoxies, and capsulants, and thereby decreases the time needed for installation of the furcations.

  • Patent number: 5042901
Abstract: A watertight fiber optic splice closure has a passage in an end wall which is closed by a plug. A preconnectorized optical connector sleeve is mounted to be accessible from the passage, so that an outside optical fiber may be connected to a drop fiber without dismantling the closure.

Inventors: James R. Merriken, Rainer M. Zimmer
  • Patent number: 4991928
Abstract: Apparatus for securing a fiber optic cable in an enclosure includes a clip slideably mounted on a bracket. The cable strength member is clamped to the bracket in the position such that little or no bending of the strength member is necessary. A physical stop on the clip ensures that the strength member will not intrude into the splicing area over time.
