  • Patent number: 8112902
Abstract: A spin or tumble dryer having an air outlet with a moisture sensor is connected to a controller. The moisture sensor determines and stored the measured absolute atmospheric humidity values in the air outlet during operation. Specific characteristic values of the detected moisture can be determined, such as at a point in time and the duration to reach a maximum value or an absolute atmospheric humidity at a specific instant, which can be compared with the values stored in the controller. From this, it is possible to determine the laundry load quantity that is located in the spin dryer, and as a result a program sequence for drying the load can be optimized.

  • Patent number: 7705603
Abstract: A sensor device for insertion into a water channel in a washing machine is provided with two electrodes as sensors on a sensor carrier. These electrodes are in direct contact with the water through apertures. The electrodes are connected to a transformer on the sensor carrier directly and without any further components or couplings being required. The other side of the transformer is connected to an activating and evaluating means, in particular to a microprocessor positioned on the same carrier.

  • Patent number: 7613385
Abstract: A heating device is provided in a water passageway in a washing or rinsing machine and has a heating element in proximity with a sensor. In one embodiment, the heating element is mounted using a holder in an opening in a wall wherein the wall forms the water passageway. On the holder is also provided a conductivity measuring device which projects into the water passageway. The heating device and conductivity measuring device form a module.

  • Patent number: 7481097
Abstract: A method and device for measuring the surface tension of liquids uses the bubble pressure principle, wherein a parameter relating to a bubble formed using a defined gas mass flow rate or volume flow rate is measured at the tip of a capillary tube immersed in the liquid. The surface tension is calculated from the measured value. With a defined gas mass flow rate or volume flow rate, the time between the minimum pressure and the maximum pressure and hence a defined pressure increase in a bubble are measured, and from this the surface tension is calculated. A relatively inexpensive sensor for measuring the surface tension in an appliance, such as a washing machine, using this inventive concepts is disclosed using a piezoelectric transducer.

  • Publication number: 20080141465
Abstract: A washing machine is constructed with a special control unit and a conductance sensor in a washing liquid container for detecting a water level including whether there the water is above or below a given water level, and the presence of foam during a washing cycle. The control unit controls the operation of a pump, as well as the addition of fresh water, for eliminating excessive foam in the washing liquid container and in the drum. It is also possible to stop the pump from discharging this disturbing foam.
