  • Patent number: 5574325
Abstract: A configuration, which may be part of a heavy-duty dynamoelectric machine, in particular a stator, being impregnated with a filler such as a cured epoxy resin, includes a ferromagnetic and electrically conductive carrier body having grooves formed therein defining groove walls, and winding elements disposed in the grooves. Each of the winding elements has an electrically highly conductive basic unit, an impregnatable insulating sleeve surrounding the basic unit, and an electrically weakly conductive, impregnatable protective layer enveloping the insulating sleeve. Impregnatable separating layers are each disposed between a respective one of the winding elements and at least one of the groove walls of a respective one of the grooves. The separating layers are substantially formed of laminated mica sheets resting flat between the winding element and the groove wall.

  • Patent number: 5292942
Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of aqueous solutions of betaines of the formula ##STR1## in which: R.sup.1 is an alkyl radical having 6 to 22 carbon atoms or is a radical of the formula R'CONH(CH.sub.2).sub.z --, in which R' has the meaning of R.sup.1 and z is 2, 3 or 4, R.sup.2 is an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or is a radical of the formula --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OH, in which m is 1, 2 or 3, R.sup.3 is an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or is a radical of said formula --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OH and y is 1, 2 or 3. The aqueous betaine solutions are prepared by quaternization of the corresponding tertiary amines with an .omega.-halocarboxylic acid and with an alkali metal hydroxide in the aqueous phase. The quaternization is carried out continuously in two or three stirred tanks arranged in a cascade, defined process characteristics being maintained in each tank. Using the novel process, aqueous betaine solutions are obtained in high yield and purity in a simple manner.

  • Patent number: 5110923
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for the synthesis of 5-chlorocarbonyl-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine, which is the precursor for the industrial scale synthesis of 5-carbamoyl-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine. The latter substance is used as pharmaceutical compound. In the process phosgene is passed into a suspension of iminostilbene in an inert solvent at 20.degree. C.-60.degree. C. until the iminostilbene reacted to form an almost equimolar mixture of 5-chlorocarbonyl-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine and iminostilbene hydrochloride, and then iminostilbene is released from the iminostilbene hydrochloride by the addition of an aqueous base. The iminostilbene so released is also made available for a complete phosgenation while an acidic reaction environment is maintained. After the iminostilbene reacted completely, the reaction mixture is heated slowly to 20.degree. C.-90.degree. C. with stirring and is detoxified by the hydrochloric acid that is formed.

C. The liquid is then neutralized with aqueous alkali as customary and leads to ether sulfate/water mixtures with considerably reduced contents of 1,4-dioxane which can either be used without further aftertreatment or with a considerably reduced outlay in terms of aftertreatment as personal hygiene agents and for various other purposes.

  • Patent number: 4520293
Abstract: A high frequency amplifier for a frequency range from 300 MHz to 3 GHz and having output power in the megawatt range. A beam generating device for generating a rotating electron beam includes an input resonator ring rotationally symmetric with respect to the amplifier axial axis and which presents a concentric input gap. A cathode ring disposed in front of the input gap generates the electron beam in response to an HF electrical field. The azimuthal angle width of that electron beam can be adjusted by means of a direct voltage between cathode ring and grid ring. An output resonator ring converts the kinetic energy of the beam electrons into HF power in dependence on the azimuthal angle width of the entering beam. The output resonator is rotationally symmetric with respect to the amplifier axis, axially spaced from and biassed with respect to the input resonator by a direct voltage.
