  • Patent number: 11249470
Abstract: A method for controlling functions of a vehicle by a remote control unit is provided herein. Signals are transmitted wirelessly between the remote control unit and a station in the vehicle. A data transmission rate depends on a distance between the remote control unit and the station. The data transmission rate is specified. If the data transmission rate is below a defined limit value, the vehicle functions to be controlled are no longer performed or are performed to a restricted extent only and/or the remote control unit emits warning signals.

  • Patent number: 9969370
Abstract: In a method for warning a vehicle driver of a risk of the vehicle overturning about its longitudinal axis, a control device detects the current transverse acceleration of the vehicle and emits a warning signal based thereon when a risk of overturning is presented. The warning signal is dependent upon at least one transverse acceleration value, which is critical for overturning, detected by the control device while the vehicle is being driven, and a measurement of the transverse acceleration of the vehicle at which the vehicle would actually overturn about its longitudinal axis. The transverse acceleration value that is critical for overturning is determined automatically based on the vehicle behavior exhibited during driving on a curve.

  • Patent number: 9459347
Abstract: An environment monitoring system for a vehicle includes at least two distance sensors for detecting distance by measuring the propagation time of detection signals. The distance sensors are each designed as a transmitting unit and receiving unit for the detection signals and, in a direct operating mode, emit detection signals, receive reflected components of the detection signals emitted by the distance sensors; and emit active measurement signals according thereto. The system also includes a control device that receives the measurement signals of the distance sensors and determines the object distance of a detected object. At least one distance sensor additionally can be operated in an indirect operating mode to detect a detection signal emitted by another distance sensor and reflected by the object and to generate an indirect measurement signal.

  • Publication number: 20160197740
Abstract: In a method for the provision and transmission of data, in particular with a link to a vehicle, signals are detected as data that are sent as parts of defined message blocks from a transmitter to a receiver. Data SUB-channels (I, II), via which the data are sent, are defined in the message blocks. The message blocks and data SUB-channels (I, II) are assigned to a CAN bus system. The message blocks accommodate two data SUB-channels (I, II), in particular each with a maximum of 2 bytes.

  • Patent number: 9352684
Abstract: In a method for signaling a braking process on a trailer vehicle coupled to a towing vehicle, at least one light on the trailer is actuated with an emergency brake signal during emergency braking and with a normal signal during a different driving state. The emergency brake signal causes a different actuation of the light than does the normal signal. The light can be actuated by a control signal of the towing vehicle, and the actuation state of the light can be influenced by at least one control device on the trailer. The control device detects the control signal generated by the towing vehicle and fed to the trailer to actuate the light, and analyzes the control signal. If it detects that the control signal is an emergency brake signal, it does not carry out a dedicated actuation of the light, or it effects a different actuation of the light than in other cases.

  • Patent number: 9283932
Abstract: To prevent the immobilizer for a trailer vehicle of a vehicle train from intervening when the trailer vehicle is moving in traffic, the electronic trailer braking system switches the vehicle service braking system into a “brake closed” or “brake released” state when the parking brake in the towing vehicle is actuated in closing direction or in release direction. The immobilizer is activated such that the electronic trailer braking system is only actuated by remote-control by a control device in order to switch the parking brake of the braking system permanently into the “brake closed” state when the trailer vehicle is decoupled from the vehicle train and is parked. The immobilizer is deactivated when the trailer vehicle is coupled to the vehicle train and the parking brake in the towing vehicle is engaged.

  • Publication number: 20150349977
Abstract: In a truck, consisting of a towing vehicle and at least one trailer vehicle, to transmit telematics data to a vehicle-remote telematics portal the telematics data from the trailer vehicle(s) are transmitted via a cable connection to the towing vehicle and sent from the towing vehicle, together with the telematics data from the towing vehicle, to the vehicle-remote telematics portal. Only the towing vehicle has an electronic telematics controller, and the cable connection is used as a PLC line in order to transmit the telematics data from the trailer vehicle(s) to the towing vehicle without the need for additional cable connections.

  • Patent number: 9135822
Abstract: A system for monitoring the area surrounding a vehicle, especially behind the vehicle and/or a connected trailer. The system includes distance sensors, which are arranged in a main plane and in at least one additional plane, for detecting objects in the respective monitoring region that pose a risk of collision and/or that limit passage height and/or width. The system also includes a device that evaluates the distance sensor signals to ascertain the current distance of the vehicle from the detected object and to compare the current distance against a predefinable, vehicle-specific setpoint distance value and to output a warning signal if a predefinable difference value therebetween is not reached. To cover the monitoring region both in area and height, additional distance sensors are arranged in at least one additional plane such that objects that cannot be identified by the sensors in the main plane can be detected over the entire width of the vehicle.
