  • Patent number: 5286885
Abstract: The invention relates to polymeric organosiloxane ammonium salts having a silica-like skeleton and including units of Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are identical or different and signify a group of Formula (II): ##STR2## wherein R.sup.5 is an alkylene group and the oxygen atoms are saturated by silicon atoms of additional groups corresponding to Formula (II), optionally with the insertion of cross-linking agents; R.sup.3 represents groups corresponding to R.sup.1 or R.sup.2, or hydrogen or an alkyl group; R.sup.4 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group; x is the charge number of an oxo anion of a monooxo-, isopolyoxo- or heteropolyoxo acid of the elements vanadium, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum or tungsten; and oxo groups of the X anion also may be replaced by peroxo groups. The invention also includes methods of preparing the salts of Formula (I) from salts of the type (R.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3 R.sup.4 N.sup.+).sub.y Y wherein Y is different from X.

  • Patent number: 4921983
Abstract: In the continuous epoxidation of olefins with percarboxylic acids, the alkane component which normally accumulates during the circulation of the olefin is reduced by branching off a partial current from the recycled olefin and by additional epoxidation of this olefin with percarboxylic acids as well as a subsequent separation from the epoxide.

  • Patent number: 4904821
Abstract: In order to safely prepare peracetic acid in an organic solvent, the bottom is maintained in a certain stationary state during the preparation of aqueous peracetic acid, whereupon the vapor current of peracetic acid, acetic acid and water is absorbed with an organic phosphate with 3-30 carbon atoms. The solution obtained in this manner can be transferred by means of desorption with a low-boiling compound, e.g. an alkyl ester, into this lower-boiling solvent.

  • Patent number: 4851556
Abstract: Epoxidized polybutadienes with an average molecular weight of 500 to 100,000 and a certain content of epoxide oxygen were prepared from the corresponding polybutadienes with use of perpropionic acid in a benzene solution. The solution can also be employed in unpurified form with maximum contents of 1.5 weight percent hydrogen peroxide 1.5 weight percent of water, and about 800 ppm of mineral acid.

  • Patent number: 4801759
Abstract: A method for the continuous saponification of epoxides with 3-8 carbon atoms at low pressures, preferably atmospheric pressure, and low boiling temperatures with small amounts of water. Yields and selectivities are very high.

  • Patent number: 4762954
Abstract: The continuous production of 1,2-diols by means of saponification of aliphatic, linear or branched epoxides with 8-30 carbon atoms or high molecular weight cycloaliphatic epoxides with water and acidic catalyst at pressures of 1-5 bar using a vapor-liquid mixture of a solubilizing agent which is stationary in a column. The yields obtained are high and exhibit a high degree of purity. The water added can be recycled as such.

  • Patent number: 4626603
Abstract: Aliphatic or cyclic epoxides containing 3 to 8 carbon atoms which are present in aromatic hydrocarbons or halohydrocarbons are saponified continuously and directly to vicinal diols without the use of high temperatures and pressures which would otherwise be necessary. The saponification is acid catalyzed.

  • Patent number: 4605795
Abstract: There is provided a process for the continuous production of pentanediol-1,2 comprising epoxidizing pentene in a completely homogeneous phase with perpropionic acid in benzene to 1-pentene oxide and directly saponifying the pentene oxide-1 without isolation. High yields and a high degree of purity of pentanediol-1,2 are obtained.
