  • Patent number: 8040879
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are provided for actuating and operating a heterogeneous transport network which includes connection elements, such as ATM and Ethernet connections, by controlling a TDM-based switching system. In the area of the transport network, there are gateways and routers which are actuated by the central control device for the purposes of setting up and clearing down a connection. Information relating to the accessibility of specific communications subscribers by a communication medium and communications protocol is either stored in the area of a central control mechanism or is available locally in the area of local access devices for subscriber terminals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 14, 2000
Date of Patent: October 18, 2011
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Antonius Emmerink, Egon Klein, Andreas Steffan, Rainer Windecker, Steffi Winkler

  • Patent number: 7643501
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are specified for setting up and clearing communications links via a private branch exchange. A number of types of communications device are driven via the same controller. New devices with a transport network for transporting the communications data can thus be integrated in a private branch exchange by using TDM-based devices. The central configuration of the controller allows already existing central interfaces and databases relating to subscribers to be used. If required, service feature controllers can still be used.

  • Patent number: 7352738
Abstract: In a communication system for Internet protocol (IP)-based transmission of information formed of a speech part and a data part between interface units with a plurality of ports, the speech part and the data part are transmitted to separate ports of the receiving interface unit. The ports that used are allocated to each other in the communication system as corresponding ports.

  • Patent number: 7330461
Abstract: In the transfer of a connection between a packet-switched and a line-switched communications network, conversion of user data which are to be transmitted via the connection is controlled by a first gateway device disposed between the packet-switched and the line-switched communications network. The conversion is carried out depending on transfer information which is formed by a second gateway device located on the path of the connection and disposed between the line-switched and a further packet-switched communications network.

  • Patent number: 7277534
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are specified for setting up and clearing communications links via a private branch exchange. The transport network for transporting the communication data is preferably in the form of an ATM network or IP network, and is controlled by a separate control network, separated from it. The advantage is that the two networks are independent of one another, and that broadband communications requirements can be satisfied easily by a modular expansion capability. The central control configuration allows already existing central databases relating to subscribers to be used, and likewise allows connection-related service feature control systems still to be used.

  • Patent number: 7154908
Abstract: The invention describes a novel private branch exchange and the migration solution with respect to existing devices. Communication connections are established via a transport network, the control takes place in a centralized manner by means of a central control device, which is connected to the decentralized switching devices and the interface modules via a two-stage connection, a collection and distribution of the control messages being carried out in a decentralized manner and the control connection from the respective decentralized device to the central control being provided by an ATM network or an Ethernet connection.

  • Patent number: 7139386
Abstract: Features available in one communication installation of a communication system are made available system-wide by transmitting an item of feature control information for a subscriber line of a first communication installation to a second communication installation. The item of feature control information is converted into at least one function call, whose associated function is provided by a computer telephony integration (CTI) interface. The function call is transmitted via the CTI interface to the first communication installation. At least one feature control instruction contained in the function call is executed by an administration and maintenance device of the first communication installation. The first communication installation depicts a controlled instance with regard to a feature control, while the second communication installation depicts a controlling instance.

  • Patent number: 6999473
Abstract: The transmission quality of a first data stream, in particular a real time data stream, which competes with at least one further data stream for a restricted transmission capacity at a network node in a data packet oriented communication network, is improved by increasing the data rate of the first data stream by adding redundant data at the transmitter end. During an overload situation, the increase in the data rate of the first data stream in comparison to that of the at least one further data stream overrides the latter to the extent that a greater proportion of the jointly available transmission capacity at the network node is now taken up by the first data stream.

  • Publication number: 20040043787
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a communication system for controlling the user interface of a mobile communication terminal (MKE), which is registered to a communication facility (PBX). Said communication facility uses a stimulus telephone protocol (STP) for controlling a user interface of wire-linked communication terminals (DEG). According to the invention, control information for the representation of the user interface in the mobile communication terminal (MKE) is transmitted by the communication facility (PBX) to the mobile communication terminal (MKE) at least partially by means of a packet-oriented communication protocol (WAP) converted from the stimulus telephone protocol (STP).
