  • Publication number: 20240141833
Abstract: An air intake for an aircraft propulsion system includes an air inlet duct, a core flow duct, a bypass flow duct, and a flow control device. The air inlet duct includes an intake inlet of the air intake. The core flow duct includes a core flow outlet. The core flow duct extends between and to the air inlet duct and the core flow outlet. The bypass flow duct includes a bypass flow outlet. The bypass flow duct extends between and to the air inlet duct and the bypass flow outlet. The bypass flow duct includes an interior surface forming and surrounding a bypass flow passage through the bypass flow duct. The flow control device is disposed on the interior surface. The flow control device is configured to variably control an area of a cross-sectional flow area of the bypass flow passage.

  • Publication number: 20240141832
Abstract: An air intake for an aircraft propulsion system includes an air inlet duct and a flow control device. The air inlet duct includes an interior surface and an intake inlet. The interior surface extends from the intake inlet. The interior surface forms and surrounds an inlet flow passage through the air inlet duct. The intake inlet includes a top side, a bottom side, a first lateral side, and a second lateral side. Each of the first lateral side and the second lateral side extend between and to the top side and the bottom side. The flow control device is disposed inside the air inlet duct at the first lateral side. The flow control device is configured to form an asymmetrical shape of the intake inlet at the first lateral side relative to the second lateral side.

  • Patent number: 11965460
Abstract: An air intake for an aircraft propulsion system includes an air inlet duct, a core flow duct, a bypass flow duct, a splitter, and a flow control device. The air inlet duct includes an intake inlet and a gas path floor. The core flow duct includes a core flow outlet. The bypass flow duct includes a bypass flow outlet. The bypass flow duct includes the gas path floor. The splitter separates the core flow duct and the bypass flow duct. The flow control device is disposed on a portion of the gas path floor. The flow control device is configured to be selectively positioned to control an air flow path for air flowing through the air inlet duct, the core flow duct, and the bypass flow duct.

  • Patent number: 11085333
Abstract: An exhaust mixer for a gas turbine engine where each outer lobe has at the downstream end a circumferential offset in a direction corresponding to that of the swirl component of the flow entering the mixer. The mixer has a crest line having at least a downstream portion curved with respect with respect to a circumferential direction of the mixer and/or a center line at the downstream end tilted with respect to a radial line extending to the tip of the outer lobe to define the circumferential offset. A method of mixing a core flow and a bypass flow surrounding the core flow with an annular mixer is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170030213
Abstract: A turbine section of a gas turbine engine comprises a gas path having an outer boundary wall. A circumferential array of turbine blades projects radially into the gas path. Each turbine blade extends in span from a hub to a tip and in chord from a leading edge to a trailing edge. A circumferential array of tip flow vanes extends radially inward from the outer boundary wall with a span corresponding generally to a radial depth of a tip leakage flow region of the turbine blades. The tip flow vanes are disposed downstream of the circumferential array of turbine blades adjacent to the trailing edge of the turbine blades.

  • Patent number: 8979487
Abstract: A high pressure turbine includes a vane having an airfoil with a profile substantially in accordance with at least an intermediate portion of the Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in Table 2. The X and Y values are distances, which when smoothly connected by an appropriate continuing curve, define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z. The profile sections at each distance Z are joined smoothly to one another to form a complete airfoil shape.
