  • Patent number: 11623552
Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly is provided with a seatback frame adapted to be mounted to a vehicle interior. The seatback frame has a front region facing a forward direction, and a rear region. A first bracket is mounted to the front region of the seatback frame. A second bracket is mounted to the first bracket and the rear region of the seatback frame. At least one head restraint post is mounted to the first bracket or the second bracket and spaced apart from the seatback frame so that upon a rear vehicle impact, the second bracket deforms as the at least one head restraint post is translated toward the seatback frame.

  • Patent number: 11318872
Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly is provided with a seat back frame. A bracket is provided with a substrate welded to the seat back frame. Two pairs of sidewalls extend from the substrate and are tapered with an enlarged region at an upper distal end. A pair of support plates are each supported by one of the two pairs of sidewalls and spaced apart from the substrate to provide a mounting surface. A pair of spaced apart tubes are each welded to the bracket mounting surface of one of the pair of support plates. A pair of head restraint posts are each received in one of the pair of tubes. A head restraint is supported upon the pair of head restraint posts, so that upon a rear vehicle impact, the bracket deforms as the pair of head restraint posts are translated toward the seat back frame.

  • Patent number: 11292374
Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly is provided with a seat back frame with an upper crossbar. A deformable member is welded to the seat back frame. A pair of tubes is welded to the deformable member. A pair of head restraint posts are each received in one of the pair of tubes to support a head restraint. A pair of spaced apart limit bracket bases is welded to the upper crossbar and extend away from the seat back frame to support a pair of limit bracket contact portions. A pair of contact target plates are each welded to one of the pair of tubes, spaced apart from and aligned with one of the pair of limit bracket contact portions so that the deformable member deforms under a rear vehicle impact until the contact target plates contact the contact portions of the limit brackets.

  • Patent number: 11110828
Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly, a biasing mechanism, and a method of installing a vehicle seat assembly are provided. A first end region of a torsion spring is for fixed connection to a vehicle frame bracket mount such that the seat back rotates relative to the first end region of the spring about a transverse axis. A second end region of the torsion spring is offset from the transverse axis. A support bracket is connected to the seat back, with the intermediate region of the torsion spring supported for rotation by the support bracket. A block supported by the support bracket and offset from the transverse axis, with the block contacting the second end region of the torsion spring to bias the spring when the seat back is in a first, use position.

  • Publication number: 20210129727
Abstract: A hinge assembly for integration into a seat release system includes a pivot stud having a shaft section and a first head section and an outer hinge component attached to the first head section of the pivot stud. The shaft section is adapted to be connected to a spring element of the pivot stud. The first head section has a rounded star-shaped cross-section with three or more protrusions converging in a direction outward from a center of the rounded star-shaped cross-section with at least one flat-ended protrusion. The outer hinge component defines a top wall and a sidewall. The top wall is adapted to be attached to a vehicle body structural component. Characteristically, the sidewall defines an opening into which the first head section of the pivot stud is positioned. A vehicle seat release system incorporating the hinge assembly is also provided.
