When bootable media is detected, data is read from a predetermined location of the bootable media. Next, the file system type is determined from the read data. The boot loader code is loaded for the corresponding file system type from basic input and output system (BIOS) code, and execution control is transferred to the boot loader code.

An electronic device includes at least one processor. A memory is coupled to the at least one processor, and includes a series of instructions maintained thereon. When the processor executes the series of instructions, the processor detects the presence of a bootable media. If bootable media is detected, the processor reads data from a predetermined location on the bootable media. Next, the processor determines the file system type of the bootable media from the previously read data.
