  • Patent number: 7989732
Abstract: A method of AC welding that includes the step of supplying AC current with a given waveform from a power source to an advancing electrode and workpiece. The AC current is used to melt the electrode and to thereby deposit metal from the electrode onto the workpiece. The electrode includes a particulate arc stabilizing compound. The particulate arc stabilizing compound includes sodium and titanium dioxide. The particulate arc stabilizing compound constitutes over 20% by weight of the core of the electrode.

  • Patent number: 7807948
Abstract: A manufacturing process is disclosed for manufacturing cored welding electrode, wherein calcium based drawing lubricant is applied to an outer surface of a flux cored welding electrode structure, and a drawing process is thereafter carried out to compact the core fill material and to set the final outer wire diameter. Cored welding electrodes are disclosed having calcium hydroxide within the electrode core, on the sheath, and/or in a sheath seam.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 2005
Date of Patent: October 5, 2010
    Assignee: Lincoln Global, Inc.

  • Patent number: 7180030
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for rating a welding electrode and/or for ranking two or more electrodes with respect to gas tracking effects in gas shielded flux cored arc welding processes. The methods involve performing a standardized welding process using an electrode of interest to create a test weld on a workpiece with a linearly varying contact to work distance in the process, measuring a distance from the beginning of the weld to a point at which gas tracking is first observed, and rating an electrode or ranking several electrodes according to the measured distance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 19, 2005
Date of Patent: February 20, 2007
    Assignee: Lincoln Global, Inc.
    Inventors: Rajeev Katiyar, Garr Eberle
