Publication number: 20250048334Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may establish, by a first subscription of the UE, a connection to a first network entity using two transmit (Tx) chains of the UE. The UE may receive, by a second subscription of the UE, a paging message from a second network entity. The UE may receive, by the first subscription from the second subscription, a request for the first subscription to enter a mode that supports one Tx chain. The UE, by the first subscription, may reduce the two Tx chains to the one Tx chain for the first subscription. The UE may perform, by the second subscription to the second network entity, the connection setup based at least in part on the first subscription reducing the two Tx chains to the one Tx chain. Numerous other aspects are described.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2024Publication date: February 6, 2025Inventors: Tom CHIN, Peter Pui Lok ANG, Reza SHAHIDI, Kuo-Chun LEE, Wei-Jei SONG, Arvind Vardarajan SANTHANAM, Rajeev PAL

Publication number: 20250039856Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE including an application processor and a modem to disable measurements of reference signals from 5G base stations which are inapplicable to EN-DC. The UE may receive a reference signal from a base station. The UE may identify a frequency range. The UE may provide, using the application processor, an indication to the modem. The UE may determine whether to measure the reference signal using the modem based on the indication provided to the modem from the application processor and whether the reference signal is within the identified frequency range and further based on whether the base station is standalone or non-standalone. The UE may refrain from measuring the reference signal in response to the determination. As a result, inter-RAT handovers from LTE base stations to 5G base stations are prevented, UE power consumption is thereby saved, and support for EN-DC is maintained.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2024Publication date: January 30, 2025Inventors: Tom CHIN, Rajeev PAL, Kuo-Chun LEE, Arvind Vardarajan SANTHANAM, Wei-Jei SONG, Abhishek BHATNAGAR, Min WANG

The UE may receive a reference signal from a base station. The UE may identify a frequency range. The UE may determine whether to measure the reference signal based on whether the reference signal is within the identified frequency range. The UE may refrain from measuring the reference signal in response to the determination. The UE may also refrain from measuring the reference signal in response to a SIB received at the UE not including a ULI, or in response to a frequency associated with the reference signal not being in a list of supported bands for EN-DC. As a result, inter-RAT handovers from LTE base stations to 5G base stations are prevented, UE power consumption is thereby saved, and support for EN-DC is maintained.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2021Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Tom Chin, Rajeev Pal, Kuo-Chun Lee, Arvind Vardarajan Santhanam, Wei-Jei Song, Abhishek Bhatnagar, Min Wang

Publication number: 20240007910Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station according to a first radio access technology (RAT) in a first frequency range. The UE may perform measurements on a set of candidate cells of a second RAT or a second frequency range based on a determination for the UE to operate according to the second RAT or the second frequency range. The UE may perform a mobility procedure to establish a connection with a first cell of the set of candidate cells based on a determination that a first value of a first measurement parameter for the first cell satisfies a first threshold, and further based on a comparison of a different, second value of a second measurement parameter for the first cell to a second threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2021Publication date: January 4, 2024Inventors: Xianwei Zhu, Jianqiang Zhang, Xuqiang Zhang, Xiaochen Chen, Xiaoning Lu, Yifan Du, Qiang Deng, Jinglei Tian, Jie Mao, Arvind Vardarajan Santhanam, Yong Hou, Shan Qing, Zhongyue Lou, Tom Chin, Wei-Jei Song, Mingchun Yang, Sathish Krishnamoorthy, Rajeev Pal

Publication number: 20230370916Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station associated with a first radio access technology (RAT), a neighbor cell list including entries for at least a first set of neighbor cells and a second set of neighbor cells, the first set of neighbor cells and the second set of neighbor cells associated with a second RAT. The UE may determine that the first set of neighbor cells is associated with a first network operator and that the second set of neighbor cells is associated with a second network operator. The UE may measure at least one neighbor cell of the neighbor cell list based at least in part on prioritization of the first set of neighbor cells relative to the second set of neighbor cells. Numerous other aspects are described.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2020Publication date: November 16, 2023Inventors: Xianwei ZHU, Junli WU, Xuqiang ZHANG, Jianqiang ZHANG, Ling XIE, Kuo-Chun LEE, Arvind Vardarajan SANTHANAM, Xiaochen CHEN, Shan QING, Xiaoning LU, Yong HOU, Peng HU, Yifan DU, Wei-Jei SONG, Tom CHIN, Mingchun YANG, Rajeev PAL, Sathish KRISHNAMOORTHY

Publication number: 20230319657Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses to manage mobility in a wireless communication system. A user equipment (UE) may include a wireless communication apparatus and an application processor (AP). In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may monitor cells using a first criterion to detect problematic cells. For example, the first criterion may be associated with a history of ping-pong events or a history of data transmission errors. The wireless communication apparatus may select a cell for communication using a cell selection criteria that deprioritizes selection of problematic cells. In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may receive a list of cells from the AP or a server, the list identifying cells considered to be problematic cells. The wireless communication apparatus may adjust the first criterion to expedite detection of problematic cells.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2022Publication date: October 5, 2023Inventors: Arvind Vardarajan Santhanam, Tom Chin, Wei-Jei Song, Rajeev Pal, Kuo-Chun Lee, Mouaffac Ambriss
