  • Patent number: 8756345
Abstract: Methods and structure are provided for managing Protection Information (PI) in a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) expander. The Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) expander comprises a Serial Management Protocol (SMP) target. The SMP target is operable to receive, from a Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) controller, an SMP command for managing Protection Information (PI) for a RAID volume at the SAS expander. The expander further comprises a control unit operable to generate PI for the RAID volume in response to receiving the SMP command from the controller, and a Serial SCSI Protocol (SSP) initiator operable to generate SSP commands for writing the PI to a storage device that provisions the RAID volume based upon input from the control unit.

  • Publication number: 20140018238
Abstract: The present invention discloses activated carbon-metal organic framework composite materials (AC@MOF) with enhanced gas adsorption capacity. The present invention also discloses a process for the preparation of carbon-metal organic framework composite materials (AC@MOF). The present invention involves the use of “void space filling method” in metal organic frameworks (MOFs), which have been accomplished by in-situ addition of selected type and appropriate amount of activated carbon during the synthesis of MOF such as Cu-BTC, in the storage of gases such as methane. The gas adsorption capacity of these AC@MOF composite materials is significantly increased through this method.

  • Publication number: 20130274607
Abstract: An automatic, stand-alone, hand-held ultrasound blood-vessel examination device (100) requires a reduced number of transducer elements (126) and presents a simplified user interface (136-140), without the need for displaying an image of any of the vessels. The probe, in one embodiment, acquires and examines a volume of interest (106), searches for a target vessel, tests the vessel for normality of blood flow, and reports the diagnosis, all automatically and without need for user intervention. In another embodiment, the probe finds a body vessel (108-112) in a volume, and extracts a clinical Doppler parameter, all automatically and without need for user intervention.

  • Publication number: 20120182180
Abstract: Positioning systems and methods comprise a network of transmitters that broadcast positioning signals comprising ranging signals and positioning system information. A ranging signal comprises information used to measure a distance to a transmitter broadcasting the ranging signal. A reference sensor array comprising at least one reference sensor unit is positioned at a known location. A remote receiver includes an atmospheric sensor collecting atmospheric data at a position of the remote receiver. A positioning application is coupled to the remote receiver and generates a reference pressure estimate at the position of the remote receiver using the atmospheric and reference data from the reference sensor array. The positioning application computes the position of the remote receiver using the reference pressure estimate and information derived from at least one of the positioning signals and satellite signals that are signals of a satellite-based positioning system. The position includes an elevation.

  • Publication number: 20120135767
Abstract: A system (10) and method (50) of dynamic allocation of spectrum for a communication device involves receiving (51) a user channel map (UCM) on a control channel that is outside the band of interest. The UCM can include at least boundary location information for one or more channel resources. The method can determine (52) at least an approximate location for the communication device, compare (56) the approximate location with the boundary location information, and determine (57) which channels can avoid co-channel and adjacent channel interference with licensed users and other unlicensed users based on the comparison. The method can relax communication parameters for the one or more channel resources if no licensed user signals are found in the user channel map, and tightening the communication parameters if co-channel, adjacent channel, or other interference generating channel use is found within the user channel map.
