    Abstract: An authentication method (300) is provided for a local device (120), comprising: receiving a remote encryption key from a remote device (210); performing an authentication process on the remote encryption key (320, 225, 230, 235, 240); receiving a set of secret information at the local device through a local data entry element (350); encoding an authentication message with the remote encryption key (355), the authentication message including the secret information, and the authentication message being signed with a local encryption key; and sending the authentication message to the remote device (355).
