  • Publication number: 20240179672
Abstract: A non-transitory computer readable medium, a device, and a method for configuring a channel at an access point (AP) are disclosed. In an embodiment, the non-transitory computer readable medium includes instructions for receiving an Internet Protocol (IP) geolocation of an AP at an AP manager, where the IP geolocation indicates a physical location country of the AP, obtaining a configuration of the AP from a configuration database, the configuration of the AP including a configured country, determining whether the physical location country matches the configured country, identifying a common channel when the physical location country of the AP and the configured country of the AP do not match, the common channel including a channel that is authorized for use in both the physical location country and in the configured country, and pushing an indication of the common channel from the AP manager to the AP in a configuration message.

  • Publication number: 20220070762
Abstract: A WI-FI access point can be configured to communicate with a service set using a service set identifier (SSID) and to respond to, or not respond to, probe requests based on whether the WI-FI access point is a preferred access point for the SSID. The WI-FI access point can have a probe suppression indicator that indicates suppressive when the access point is not preferred and that indicates responsive when the access point is preferred. Transmitting a WI-FI beacon having a SSID value equaling the SSID can inform WI-FI clients of the service set. The WI-FI clients can transmit probe requests having SSID values equaling the SSID. The WI-FI access point can suppress sending probe responses responsive to the probe requests when the probe suppression indicator indicates suppressive. The WI-FI access point can send probe responses responsive to the probe requests when the probe suppression indicator indicates responsive.

  • Patent number: 11252672
Abstract: Radio channel configuration is described for an access point using a multiprotocol-border gateway protocol (MP-BGP) message. In an example a report is received in a MP-BGP message from each of a plurality of APs at an AP manager. Each report includes a channel quality indicator of other APs as measured by the AP that sent the respective report. The reports are deparsed and aggregated. A transmit power adjustment is determined for a selected AP based on the aggregated reports at the AP manager and a transmit power adjustment command is sent to the selected AP.
