  • Publication number: 20240129356
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing encoding or decoding of adaptive bitrate streams. In various embodiments, one or more first computing systems may divide a live media content stream into one or more segments, each segment might include a starting segment boundary and an ending segment boundary. The one or more first computing systems might encode the one or more segments into one or more primary adaptive bitrate streams. The one or more first computing systems might also divide the one or more segments of the live media content stream into one or more subsegments. Each subsegment might be less than a length of a corresponding segment of the one or more segments. The one or more first computing systems might the encode and/or a second computing system might decode the one or more subsegments into or from one or more secondary adaptive bitrate streams.

  • Patent number: 11095935
Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for receiving high data transmission channels, where the system may have a first set top box and a second set top box. The first set top box may contain a tuner configured to receive via a broadcast network, a portion of a channel bonded data stream. The first set top box may also contain a network interface to a local network to send the portion to the network interface of a second set top box. The second set top box may also contain a tuner configured to receive another portion of the channel bonded data stream. The second set top box may then be configured to debond the portions received before combining the portions of the channel bonded data stream for output.

  • Patent number: 10574424
Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for improved bandwidth for DVB-S2X bonded channels. A high bandwidth stream may be split to a plurality of partial streams, including inserted null packets. Modulators may remove the null packets while maintaining a synchronization counter. The counter value may be inserted in headers of transmitted data packets in reduced bandwidth output streams, without requiring explicit identification of removed or deleted null packets. Downstream modulators may recover and remerge the partial streams via the synchronization counters. As explicit deleted null packet identifiers are omitted, header sizes are reduced, further increasing payload/header efficiency ratios.

  • Publication number: 20200014974
Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for controlling a set top box remotely and monitoring its display output. Remote control commands may be intercepted or captured and forwarded over a network as encapsulated serial data or HDMI-CEC, in some implementations. This data may be transmitted over a network to a processing device, sometimes referred to as an HDMI pass-through and streamer device. The HDMI pass-through device may receive the encapsulated serial data via the network and retransmit the data as CEC data over HDMI to the set top box as if it were any other HDMI capable device, such as a television. Thus, the recipient set top box may receive the remote control commands via CEC and treat them as incoming IR commands and act accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10079727
Abstract: Different data communication architectures deliver a wide variety of content, including audio and video content, to consumers. The architectures employ channel bonding to deliver more bandwidth than any single communication channel can carry. In some implementations, the communication architectures distribute data streams to bonded channels that are clocked independently. A system is provided for synchronizing the bonded channels.

  • Patent number: 9232268
Abstract: A home gateway may be used to handle at least a portion of processing of content obtained for consumption by client devices serviced via the home gateway. The home gateway may receive a single copy of content having a first format, and may convert the received content to one or more other formats suitable for presentation by at least one of the client devices based on knowledge of the client devices. The home gateway may maintain secure and/or protected access of the content handled via the home gateway. During protected access the home gateway may partition the content into a plurality of encrypted segments that are forwarded separately to the client devices. The client devices may utilize a corresponding plurality of encryption keys for decrypting the encrypted segments. The encryption keys may be obtained from an external key server. The home gateway may also generate the encryption keys.

  • Patent number: 9232284
Abstract: A STB resource sharing (RS) group of a home network comprises a plurality of STBs. In the STB RS group, a STB communicates with one or more other STBs to mutually share available device resources comprising hardware and software resources, and/or capabilities. The STB functions as an elected master (EM) or a STB RS client in the STB RS group. As an EM, the STB receives advertisements from other STBs to determine available resources. The determined available resources are announced to other STBs in the STB RS group. The STB manages the use of the determined available resources according to resource sharing requests received from other STBs. As a STB RS client, the STB advertises inherent resources to an EM of the STB RS group. The STB receives announcements from the EM for available resources in the STB RS group. The STB shares its available resources, accordingly.
