    Abstract: A method for joining thermoplastic components is provided herein. During the method, a first component and a second component are provided. The first component comprises a first fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite, and the second component comprises a second fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite. The second component is arranged with the first component to form a welding zone. A discrete welding configuration forming a plurality of discrete welds is selected. The first component is welded to the second component within the welding zone using the selected discrete welding configuration.
