  • Patent number: 8914520
Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving a request to authenticate an end user in a service provider network, and evaluating the request to identify the end user as belonging to an enterprise network. A tag is generated for a packet associated with a flow for the end user in the enterprise network. Routing occurs for subsequent packets associated with the flow between the enterprise network and the end user. The subsequent packets associated with the flow are not routed through the service provider network. In more particular embodiments, the end user is authenticated in the enterprise network after being authenticated in the service provider network. In addition, traffic for the end user can be separated based on one or more tags identified within the flow. A plurality of flows can be classified based on a customer identification (CID). The tag can be a virtual local area network (VLAN) tag generated at a base station.

  • Patent number: 8769626
Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing web authentication of mobile wireless devices that roam from a wireless wide area network to a wireless local area network. A redirect rule is invoked when a request is received from the mobile wireless device for world wide web access in order to obtain authentication for the mobile wireless device before permitting world wide web access. When a world wide web access request is received from the mobile wireless device, it is redirected to an authentication portal to allow a user of the mobile wireless device to enter user credentials to allow for world wide web access using the IP address.

  • Publication number: 20140056290
Abstract: Multi-operator networking techniques are provided for allowing two or more operators to share a wireless local area network (WLAN). In particular, mobile access gateway functionality is integrated in a wireless network controller of a WLAN that is accessible to first and second operators. Operator-specific tunnels are created through the network for each of the first and second operators that link a core network of each of the first and second operators with an associated client device. Packets are then forwarded between the core networks of the first and second operators and their associated client devices via the operator-specific tunnels.

  • Publication number: 20080243999
Abstract: A method and a communication system having an Application Ensemble Service server is provided that manage an application ensemble having multiple applications running on one or more user terminals. The communication system allows a user to collectively transfer the ensemble from a source terminal or terminals to a target terminal or terminals, for example, from voice and data terminals to other voice and data terminals or to a single user terminal. The communication system further allows the user to selectively transfer applications of the ensemble, such as transferring only the voice session from the voice terminal to another voice or voice/data terminal, and to copy an ensemble, or a portion of an ensemble, from a source terminal to a target terminal, wherein the ensemble or portion of the ensemble is not removed from the source terminal. The communication system further allows a user to suspend and resume an application ensemble.

  • Publication number: 20080152123
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for facilitating ringing of one or more dual mode communication devices and one or more fixed communication devices in an IP-based communication system. The method comprises receiving a first invite message corresponding to an incoming call for dual mode communication device or the fixed communication device. The method further comprises determining whether the dual mode communication device and the fixed communication device are located within a predetermined area. When the dual mode communication device and the fixed communication device are located within a predetermined area, the method determines whether a simultaneous ringing feature is active. If the simultaneous ringing feature is active, both the dual mode communication device and the fixed communication device are allowed to join the incoming call simultaneously.
