  • Patent number: 10244080
Abstract: A technique for communicating with multiple Converged IT Infrastructures (CITIs) includes accessing any CITI that is part of a group of multiple CITIs by accessing a single CITI within the group. In an example, each CITI has a representative converged infrastructure coordinator (CIC), which stores information about the respective CITI. When any CITI in the group receives a request from a client for information about any other CITI in the group, the CIC of the CITI receiving the request contacts the CIC of the other CITI and obtains the requested information about the other CITI from its CIC. In some examples, the CIC also acts to aggregate, filter, and/or analyze information gathered from multiple CITIs in the group, and thus allows clients to receive processed data pertaining to many CITIs in response to simple commands.

  • Patent number: 10242672
Abstract: An intelligent assistant leverages private data specific to users and data available publically on one or more networks to improve the functionality of devices used to present content. A user's actions in a content authoring application are observed by the intelligent assistant and used to predict the user's actions. The public data related to the content in the presentation are also used to augment the presentation and to suggest best practices in presenting the content. In some aspects, a “practice” presentation is given by the user to provide the intelligent assistant a baseline to which to assist the user in realtime comply with during a “live” presentation or to receive suggestions in how to improve the presentation prior to presenting it “live”.

  • Publication number: 20190087144
Abstract: The techniques of this disclosure include power optimal multiplexing of host and/or panel random access memory (RAM) pixel data for display scan out. Two aspects include systems and methods of bypassing the memory on the smart display panel in certain circumstances and refreshing the display from the host: hardware enhancement for an optimal block-based timing engine for smart display panels and an optimized frame-based timing engine scan out for smart display panels. The host may determine whether to bypass the memory of the smart display based on the size of high refresh rate regions and/or offline data for non-updating regions from the host and RAM respectively. By bypassing the panel RAM during circumstances where large areas of the display are updated rapidly, display power usage and on-panel RAM wear out may be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20190087259
Abstract: A method and associated systems use DVFS performance-scaling technology to satisfy quality-of-service performance requirements when recovering a job that had been scheduled to run on a failed virtual machine. A Buffer Time specifies a duration of time remaining, at the time of failure, for the job to complete in order to satisfy the quality-of-service requirements. Depending on relative durations of time required to repair the failed virtual machine, to perform the job on an unsealed active-mode virtual machine, and to transfer the job to another virtual machine, the system determines whether to repair the failed virtual machine or to transfer the job. If the latter, the system then determines whether to select a destination virtual machine provisioned on a DVFS-compliant platform and, if so, the system scales the DVFS-compliant platform's performance to a level sufficient to complete the job within the Buffer Time.

  • Publication number: 20190088607
Abstract: In a multi-chip module (MCM), a “super” chip (110N) is attached to multiple “plain” chips (110F? “super” and “plain” chips can be any chips). The super chip is positioned above the wiring board (WB) but below at least some of plain chips (110F). The plain chips overlap the super chip. Further, the plain chips' low speed IOs can be connected to the WB by long direct connections such as bond wires (e.g. BVAs) or solder stacks; such connections can be placed side by side with the super chip. Such connections can be long, so the super chip is not required to be thin. Also, if through-substrate vias (TSVs) are omitted, the manufacturing yield is high and the manufacturing cost is low. Other structures are provided that combine the short and long direct connections to obtain desired physical and electrical properties.
