  • Patent number: 11111192
Abstract: A method for producing para-xylene (PX) includes introducing a C8 aromatic-containing composition to a xylene rerun column to separate the C8 aromatic-containing composition into a xylene-containing effluent and a heavy effluent and passing the xylene-containing effluent to a PX processing loop that includes a PX recovery unit operable to separate a PX product from the xylene-containing effluent, a membrane isomerization unit operable to convert a portion of the MX, OX, or both from the xylene-containing effluent to PX, an EB dealkylation unit operable to dealkylate EB from the xylene-containing effluent to produce benzene, toluene, and other C7? compounds, and a membrane separation unit operable to produce a permeate that is PX-rich and a retentate that is PX-lean. The permeate is passed to the PX recovery unit for recovery of PX, which the retentate is bypassed around the PX recovery unit circulated through the xylene processing loop.

  • Patent number: 10294172
Abstract: Provided here are processes and systems for conversion of alkyl-bridged non-condensed alkyl multi-aromatic compounds to alkyl mono-aromatic compounds. One system includes a hydrodearylation reactor adapted to receive a hydrogen stream and a feed stream and to produce a reactor effluent stream in presence of a catalyst. The feed stream contains one or more of heavy alkyl aromatic compounds and one or more alkyl-bridged non-condensed alkyl multi-aromatic compounds. The reactor effluent stream contains one or more alkyl mono-aromatic compounds. The system also includes a first separator fluidly coupled to the hydrodearylation reactor and adapted to receive the reactor effluent stream and to produce a hydrodearylated gas stream and a hydrodearylated liquid stream. The system also includes a second separator fluidly coupled to the first separator and adapted to receive a portion of the hydrodearylated gas stream and to produce a hydrocarbon liquid stream and a vapor stream rich in hydrogen.

  • Patent number: 10099974
Abstract: A process for producing xylenes, in particular para-xylene that is less energy intensive than conventional processes is provided. In an embodiment the process comprises contacting a feed mixture in an isomerization zone with a catalyst at isomerization conditions and producing an isomerized product comprising a higher proportion of p-xylene than in the feed mixture, wherein the catalyst comprises an acidic sulfonated catalytic membrane. Xylene isomerization can also be coupled with a p-xylene extraction process, where the raffinate (p-xylene deprived stream) from the extraction process is fed to an isomerization reactor to produce p-xylene.

  • Patent number: 10053401
Abstract: Embodiments in the present disclosure describe a process for recovery of lighter mono-aromatic compounds from a stream containing alkyl bridged non-condensed alkyl multi-aromatic compounds by conversion to non-condensed alkyl mono-aromatic compounds. The process includes supplying, to a reactor, a hydrocarbon feedstock containing alkyl bridged non-condensed alkyl aromatic compounds and a hydrogen stream. The process further includes allowing the alkyl-bridged non-condensed alkyl multi-aromatic compounds to react with hydrogen in the presence of a suitable catalyst to produce alkyl mono-aromatic compounds. The process may include processing the alkyl mono-aromatic compounds to produce valuable products, such as para-xylene. Various other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
